Job Title: Sr. Mainframe Tester - Java (Part-Time) Duration: 12 months (Contract W2)
Location: Salem, OR (Remote) Part-Time 8AM 12PM PST Key Sills: Java on the Mainframe, Development & Maintenance, Technical Documentation & Knowledge Transfer, Troubleshooting Debugging & Bug Fixes
Position Overview Agency requires a Mainframe Developer to support the ongoing maintenance and enhancement of enterprise financial systems. The selected candidate will play a key role in supporting, troubleshooting, and improving legacy mainframe applications. This is a part-time position (15-20 hours per week) with a flexible schedule, offering the opportunity to contribute to meaningful work in a mission-driven environment.

Note: The required resource needs to provide QA services for software that runs on the IBM zOS mainframe and related systems. In order to provide such services, the required resource needs an expert understanding of code development.
Key Responsibilities

  • Perform software system development related to system enhancements, upgrades, and ongoing maintenance.
  • Provide software and system support for issue resolution, including break/fix and bug repair tasks.
  • Develop maintenance documentation for coding changes and break/fix resolution.
  • Provide quality assurance and testing of code changes.
  • Provide informal coaching and knowledge transfer to agency support personnel related to system functions and changes implemented.

Required Qualifications: Easytrieve connecting to DB2, IBM CICS z/OS, REXX on Mainframe, PanValet, Schema changes for DB2 z/OS, SyncSort, ICETOOL, Data Analysis, DB2 COBOL, Integration planning and strategy
Preferred Skills

  • Experience working in public sector or government environments.
  • Familiarity with legacy financial applications and modernization efforts.
  • Strong documentation, communication, and knowledge-sharing capabilities.
