Role Title: Business Analyst- with Data Mapping experience
Duration: Until April 2026+ extensions
Preferred Location: Remote with travel once a month to Buffalo, NY
Role Description:
We are seeking a Business Analyst with strong data expertise to support critical data integration initiatives between Snowflake and Oracle systems within a financial services environment. This role is less about deep technical development and more about understanding data, defining mappings, and ensuring business requirements are accurately translated for the technical team. The ideal candidate has worked in banking or financial institutions on similar projects, with the ability to bridge business needs and technical execution.
- Partner with business stakeholders, data architects, and technical teams to understand data sources, business requirements, and reporting needs.
- Develop and document data mappings, transformation rules, and lineage between systems (Snowflake, Oracle, SQL databases).
- Validate that business logic and requirements are correctly represented in the data mapping deliverables that the technical team will build.
- Perform data analysis and reconciliation to identify mismatches, anomalies, or gaps and escalate findings for resolution.
- Support data quality initiatives by creating mapping documentation, test cases, and validation reports.
- Act as the bridge between business and technical teams, ensuring smooth handoff of mapping documentation for ETL/build work.
- Participate in UAT, helping the business validate that delivered solutions align with the mapped requirements.
Requirements:
- Experience as a Business Analyst or Data Analyst within banks, financial institutions, or large-scale financial projects.
- Strong knowledge of data mapping, data flows, and reconciliation processes between systems.
- Hands-on ability to query and analyze data using SQL (Snowflake or Oracle preferred).
- Proven experience working on data integration, reporting, or regulatory projects where accurate mapping and documentation were critical.
- Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills — able to capture business rules and translate them into clear mapping specifications.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring alignment across both sides.
