Job Details
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Platform Developer to drive the end-to-end design, development, and optimization of enterprise-wide ServiceNow solutions. The role requires deep technical expertise in ServiceNow s core modules (ITSM, ITOM, CSM, HRSD, SecOps, etc.), advanced customization capabilities, and strong leadership in guiding development teams. This is a permanent and salaried opportunity. Will require a couple days a month in the Chicago office.
We are only considering applicants currently in IL or Northern Indiana.
Key Responsibilities
Platform Development & Customization
- Lead the design, development, and enhancement of ServiceNow applications and modules, including IT Service Management (ITSM), IT Operations Management (ITOM), Customer Service Management (CSM), Human Resource Service Delivery (HRSD), Security Operations (SecOps), and other enterprise functions.
- Architect and implement custom workflows, business rules, UI policies, client/server scripts, and advanced ServiceNow configurations tailored to organizational requirements.
- Develop and maintain system integrations using REST/SOAP APIs, MID Servers, IntegrationHub, and third-party connectors to ensure seamless cross-platform communication.
Collaboration & Solution Design
- Partner with business analysts, architects, and stakeholders to gather requirements, analyze business needs, and translate them into robust technical solutions aligned with best practices.
- Participate in design reviews and provide technical input on solution feasibility, scalability, and maintainability.
System Stability & Performance
- Proactively monitor and maintain system performance, stability, and reliability by identifying and resolving bugs, bottlenecks, and optimization opportunities.
- Implement automated testing frameworks, health dashboards, and performance tuning techniques to ensure a high-performing platform.
Agile Delivery
- Actively participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies such as sprint planning, backlog grooming, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of platform enhancements.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in ServiceNow development and administration with a strong focus on enterprise-scale implementations.
- Proven expertise across multiple ServiceNow modules: ITSM, ITOM, CSM, HRSD, SecOps, and integrations.
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript, Glide API, AngularJS, Jelly, HTML, CSS, and ServiceNow scripting frameworks.
- Hands-on experience with IntegrationHub, Flow Designer, Orchestration, Service Portal, and Scoped Applications.
- Familiarity with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform) and enterprise integration tools (MuleSoft, Dell Boomi, etc.).
- Deep understanding of ITIL processes, Agile/Scrum methodologies, and enterprise IT operations.
- Demonstrated experience with platform upgrades, version migrations, and performance optimization.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical thinking, and communication skills with the ability to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Certifications
- ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA)
- ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) in one or more modules (ITSM, ITOM, CSM, HRSD, SecOps)
- ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD)
- ITIL v4 Foundation or higher
