SENIOR / PRINCIPAL BRIDGE ENGINEER - TRANSPORTATION INFRASTRUCTURE - PACIFIC NORTHWEST
OPPORTUNITY:
Parsons is seeking a Senior or Principal Bridge Engineer to join our growing Pacific Northwest bridge practice, supporting major transportation infrastructure projects throughout Oregon and Washington, and beyond. This role is ideal for a skilled professional experienced in bridge rehabilitation, seismic retrofit, and new bridge design. The successful candidate will contribute to both local and national projects, supporting clients including ODOT, WSDOT, local cities, counties, ports, and other agencies.
This position offers the opportunity to lead challenging and rewarding structural assignments-ranging from long-span river crossings and seismically deficient structures to routine replacements of aging infrastructure. The role may be based fully remotely in Oregon or Southwest Washington, with a preference for Portland Metro Area candidates.
PROJECTS:
This exciting role will provide the opportunity to work on a wide variety of bridge structures, including concrete and steel bridges such as cantilever, continuous steel plate girder, prestressed girder, viaduct, and multi-span beam bridges. Projects will include both new bridge design and rehabilitation of existing structures, including those that are aging, fracture-critical, or seismically vulnerable.

Salary Range: $86,700.00 - $151,700.00

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs complex engineering tasks and particularly important engineering work efficiently and accurately. Maintains a high level of organization and quality in their work.
- May be assigned to a project or organizational team, or as a lead bridge/structural engineer on small to intermediate size projects.
- Extracts engineering information from CAD drawings. Prepares engineering computations, material quantity takeoffs, estimates, and designs.
- Completes a variety of assignments such as drawings, specifications, and other materials suitable for procurement and construction purposes. Frequently interfaces with other Engineering disciplines as well as other departments.
- Provides technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and lower-level Engineers working on the same project. Supervises plan production for entire projects of small scale and contributes to plan production of more complex projects. Proficient in non-standard detailing.
- May be required to provide the seal and signature of the professional engineer, as appropriate, ensuring compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and ordinances.
- May act in an advisory capacity to senior management personnel on engineering related matters.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or related field) is required along with 8 years or more of bridge design and/or rehabilitation experience for transportation systems.
- Professional Engineer (PE) registration is required. PE registration in Oregon or Washington is preferred, or the ability to obtain through comity.
- Experience with Oregon and Washington transportation agency standards and practices is preferred.
- Master's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or related field) is highly desirable
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:
- Proficiency in utilizing AutoCAD and/or MicroStation and industry-standard bridge design analysis software (e.g., CSiBridge, MIDAS, SAP2000, LARSA) is preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
- Understanding seismic design principles, codes, and specific ODOT and WSDOT requirements is preferred.
- Familiarity with bridge load rating, inspection data review, and preservation strategy development is preferred.
