Senior Advisor, Software Architecture

About your role:
At Fiserv, we build digital banking platforms that serve financial institutions and their customers worldwide. The Software Architecture team designs scalable, secure, and resilient platform architectures that enable next-generation banking experiences. As a Senior Advisor, you will shape architecture strategy and ensure practical, high-quality solutions that drive platform reliability and innovation.

What you'll do:

  • Lead the development and implementation of enterprise software architecture strategies, standards, and reference architectures to support scalable, resilient banking platforms.
  • Partner with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to align architectural direction with strategic objectives and delivery roadmaps.
  • Provide expert guidance on solution design, integration patterns, and cross-system interoperability across cloud and on-prem environments.
  • Remain hands-on with technology-participate in critical design reviews, prototyping, and implementation decisions to ensure architectures are actionable and high quality.
  • Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies and patterns that improve performance, cost-efficiency, and developer productivity.
  • Develop and maintain architectural artifacts: models, blueprints, API contracts, and operational runbooks.
  • Mentor and coach other architects and senior engineers to elevate architecture reviews and enforce best practices.

Experience you'll need to have:

  • 12+ years of experience in software architecture for large-scale distributed and microservices-based systems, including event-driven and domain-driven design.
  • 12+ years of experience in C# and .NET Core application development, library design, and performance optimization.
  • 12+ years of experience implementing security and compliance controls, encryption frameworks, and identity/access management (e.g., OAuth2, OpenID Connect).
  • 10+ years of experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform) and cloud-native services.
  • 10+ years of experience with relational and NoSQL databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Cosmos DB, MongoDB), data modeling and performance tuning.
  • 10+ years of experience with Infrastructure-as-Code and automation (Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM/Bicep), CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps), and containerization (Docker).
  • 8+ years of experience with container orchestration, service mesh, and API technologies (Kubernetes, Istio, HTTP/JSON APIs, OpenAPI).
  • 8+ years of equivalent combination of educational background, related experience, and/or military experience.

Experience that would be great to have:

  • Deep hands-on experience with service mesh implementations (Istio, Linkerd) and advanced Kubernetes operational patterns.
  • Experience with observability and telemetry stacks (OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK) and distributed tracing at scale.
  • Prior work in highly regulated environments with exposure to compliance frameworks (PCI DSS, SOC2) and secure release processes.
  • Experience with chaos engineering or performance/scale testing tools (k6, Gatling, Chaos Mesh).
  • Proven track record of leading architecture reviews and presenting technical strategy to executive stakeholders

How you'll work:

  • This role is on-site Monday through Friday. Fiserv considers in-person collaboration to be an essential part of this role as in-person office experiences help you with your overall onboarding experience and leads to stronger productivity.
