Edge Technology Engineering builds the software powering our CDN, one of the world's largest platforms. We deliver secure, seamless experiences for streaming, gaming, e-commerce, banking, and more. Our platform supports major events like the IPL. The software acts as server, client, and caching engine, providing scalability, fault tolerance, security, optimized routing, streaming, and reporting.

Make a difference in a critical area of our business

We are looking for a motivated Software Engineer to join a team of edge technology engineers to help design and develop critical features and capabilities for our platform. This role will enhance platform core services and will design and optimize functionalities for both FedRAMP Moderate(FRM) and FedRAMP High (FRH) environments. You will work on core features of Akamai's web, caching, and streaming distributed servers.

As a Software Engineer II, you will be responsible for:

• Designing and developing optimal, scalable, complete, and robust software powering major online events like IPL
• Working with programming languages such as C/C++ and Python/Perl
• Investigating and analyzing the root cause of technical issues / performance bottlenecks
• Developing and executing the strategy for evaluating potential performance and COGS initiatives
• Maintaining, enhancing, and developing tools and automation frameworks

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have 2+ years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science
• Demonstrate solid knowledge of automation frameworks, data structures, operating systems, computer networks, and internet technologies
• Have experience with C or C++ programming language and any scripting language (Python, Perl, Shell, etc.)
• Have experience with Unix/Linux environments and solid debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills for distributed systems
• Be highly responsible, detail-oriented, and self-motivated with a passion for learning and adopting new technologies
• Undergo or possess and maintain a successfully adjudicated USG Tier 3 background investigation

Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For US based candidates only - the base salary for this position ranges from $83,800 - $174,200/year; a candidate's salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. Compensation for candidates outside the US will vary. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
