AI Engineer (Onsite ? Memphis, TN)

Overview

An enterprise organization is actively seeking a skilled AI Engineer to support the design, development, and deployment of advanced AI and data orchestration solutions. This is a long-term contract position based onsite in Memphis, TN. Only candidates who are currently local to the Memphis area or able to reliably commute will be considered. Remote or relocation candidates will not be considered at this time.

Responsibilities

Collaborate closely with AI Architects, infrastructure teams, and fellow engineers to develop and deploy AI models aligned with enterprise objectives.

Build and maintain scalable, reliable, and secure AI and data orchestration systems that deliver ethical, unbiased outcomes.

Provide subject matter expertise, documentation, and operational support for deployed AI solutions.

Monitor AI system performance and implement ongoing improvements based on metrics and user feedback.

Develop and refine processes to improve data quality, synthesize training datasets, and prepare data for AI model development and deployment.

Implement governance and observability frameworks to ensure transparency and accountability across AI solutions.

Required Skills

Proven, hands-on experience as a Data Engineer, AI Engineer, or in a similar role, with a focus on production-level implementation of AI and data orchestration technologies.

Proficiency in Python (required); familiarity with Java (preferred).

Experience with AI/ML frameworks such as LangChain, TensorFlow, and PyTorch.

Solid understanding of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, FAISS, Milvus, Chroma, Weaviate), embeddings, and search indexing.

Practical knowledge of prompt engineering, prompt flows, and AI architecture patterns.

Development and deployment experience on public cloud platforms, particularly Azure (strongly preferred) and AWS (acceptable).

Strong development practices including source control (Git), testing, and CI/CD or DevOps pipelines.

Familiarity with API development, REST services, and JSON data formats.

Experience with data preparation, ETL/ELT processes, and data cleansing for AI model readiness.

Bachelor?s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Relevant certifications in AI, data engineering, or cloud computing are a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience building customer-facing AI applications in live production environments.

Familiarity with AI governance, observability, model lifecycle management, and ethical AI considerations.

Ability to engage with cross-functional teams and clearly communicate complex AI concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Location Requirement

This position is onsite in Memphis, TN. Only candidates currently local to Memphis or within reliable commuting distance will be considered.
