The NC Department of Health and Human Services seeks a highly technical contract resource for NC FAST (Families Accessing Services through Technology). This position will serve as an Network Engineer to support applications hosted in the cloud (AWS/Azure) and on-Prem.
Responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
- Troubleshooting cloud infrastructure issues related to networking and security.
- Create firewall rules for environments.
- Assist the Operations and cloud team as requested.
- Maintain and keep track of all technical duties related to cloud networking such as design, implementation, and support.
- Manage, monitor, troubleshoot and resolve network performance issues: utilization/throughput, slowness, and unexpected latency.
Required Skills:
Extensive hands-on experience with Palo Alto VM Series firewall and Panorama configuration and optimization |
Experience with routers, routing protocols, transit gateways, load balancing, and overall cloud networking, including VPCs, subnets, routes, security |
Experience with security best practices and implementing security controls in a AWS cloud environment. |
Experience with VPN technologies to include IPsec and SSL technologies. |
Ability to work on large TCP/IP networks, design, implementation, and troubleshooting. |
Experience with name services and resolution, associated IP assignments. |
Knowledge of core network services (including DNS, DHCP, and IPAM technologies) |
Possess strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to troubleshoot complex cloud networking infrastructure issues. |
Self-motivated with strong team-oriented and collaborative attitude. |
Desired Skills:
Strong knowledge and understanding of cloud infrastructure components: compute, storage, network management, and monitoring (network and security) |
Knowledge of WAF as a Service (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform). |
