What You'll Do:
As an R&D Engineering Intern, you will play a key role in driving innovation and product excellence within our Research and Development team. This exciting internship offers hands-on experience in laboratory testing, materials analysis, and product development for specialty wire and cable products.
You'll assist engineers in setting up and conducting performance and compliance tests according to industry standards (UL, ASTM, IEC), prepare test samples, record results, and compile technical data for analysis. You'll also support prototype development through material preparation, extrusion trials, and process optimization, contributing directly to real-world R&D projects.
This internship will immerse you in the full R&D process-from concept development to testing and validation-while giving you the chance to identify trends, solve technical challenges, and propose improvements. You'll collaborate with experienced engineers, gain exposure to cross-functional teams, and make meaningful contributions to product innovation that impact the company's growth and competitive advantage.
Throughout the internship, you will develop problem-solving, data analysis, and collaboration skills while building practical experience in engineering standards and processes. You will learn to utilize laboratory and technical tools, understand compliance requirements, and participate in projects that accelerate real-world R&D initiatives.

This position is based primarily in a laboratory and office environment, with exposure to manufacturing areas requiring adherence to safety procedures and use of personal protective equipment (PPE). The environment may involve exposure to noise, temperature fluctuations, or other factors. Employees are required to abide by PPE guidelines when onsite.

What You'll Need:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field
- Strong academic foundation in materials science, polymer science, or engineering principles
- Basic knowledge of laboratory testing methods and equipment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for data analysis and reporting
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new processes, tools, and technical standards
- Entering Sophomore year or higher
Compensation:
- $22-$27 per hour, commensurate with relevant experience and educational background
Work Hours/Length of Program:
- The internship will run for 12 weeks from May to August
- Temporary Part/Full Time, targeting 40 hours per week
- Exact start and end dates are flexible based on school schedules and the needs of the business
- This is a paid internship
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

- May require standing for extended periods during lab testing or sample preparation
- Occasional lifting of materials and equipment up to 25 pounds
- Regular use of standard laboratory equipment, instrumentation, and computers
- Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions in a controlled testing environment
- Successful completion of a drug screening and a physical exam are required for this role
