Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Telecom Network Technician to join our innovative team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing our telecommunications infrastructure to ensure seamless connectivity and exceptional service delivery. You will work closely with cross-functional teams and external vendors to install, troubleshoot, and upgrade network equipment, contributing to the reliability and efficiency of our network operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Accurately document installations, configurations, repairs, and maintenance activities to ensure comprehensive records.
  • Install, wire, and configure routers, switches, and transport equipment supporting MPLS, fiber, and Ethernet services.
  • Coordinate with multiple teams and vendors to troubleshoot and resolve network issues promptly, minimizing downtime.
  • Support system upgrades, patches, and maintenance activities, including deployment and thorough documentation.
  • Respond effectively to system and service outages, storm/disaster support, and emergency repairs.
  • Participate in scheduled maintenance window cutovers and system grooms to ensure seamless transitions.
  • Conduct testing of fiber circuits, LAN, WAN, and wireless systems using specialized equipment.
  • Maintain knowledge of fiber terminations, data circuits, and power systems (48V and 135Vdc), including DC plant systems.
  • Ensure all work complies with telecommunications regulations and safety standards, fostering a culture of safety and environmental consciousness.
  • Utilize tools such as SolarWinds (NPM and NCM) for network monitoring and management.
  • Work with Nokia and Ciena transport equipment, gaining expertise in DWDM systems commissioning and troubleshooting.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Proven experience with fiber optic cabling, terminations, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Strong understanding of MPLS, LAN/WAN data circuits, and Ethernet services.
  • Familiarity with DC power plants and fiber optic test equipment.
  • Experience with network management tools such as SolarWinds NPM and NCM.
  • Hands-on experience with Nokia and Ciena transport equipment, including DWDM systems.
  • Electrical/Electronic background and SCADA knowledge are advantageous.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and resourcefulness in developing innovative solutions.
  • Prior experience in system testing, deployment, and documentation related to network upgrades.
