Position Title: IT Support Specialist
Location: Birmingham, Alabama (Onsite)

Position Status: Contract
Pay Rate: $20/hr - $22/hr on W2
Position Description:
We are seeking a skilled IT Support Specialist to provide hands-on and remote technical support in a fast-paced, enterprise environment. This role serves as the primary point of contact for troubleshooting and resolving a wide range of IT issues including Windows systems, O365, networking, hardware, connectivity, and security-related incidents.
The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with strong communication skills, the ability to adapt quickly to new technologies, and the drive to deliver high-quality support to field teams and end users. This role involves both service desk responsibilities and onsite technical tasks such as onboarding, hardware deployment, and system configuration.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the first line of support by fielding IT service calls and tickets (70%).
Perform onsite IT support, onboarding activities, hardware setups, and project-based tasks (15%).
Conduct advanced troubleshooting, research, and documentation for escalated issues (15%).
Diagnose and resolve issues across software, hardware, networking, connectivity, Active Directory, cloud platforms, and security tools.
Communicate effectively with users of varying technical levels to resolve issues and coordinate solutions.
Maintain accuracy in ticketing, asset management, and documentation using tools such as ServiceNow.
Ensure the integrity and security of IT systems, infrastructure, and enterprise environments.
Required Skills/Education:
3+ years of hands-on IT support experience across multiple technical disciplines.
Strong knowledge of Windows OS, Microsoft 365/O365, and standard enterprise environments.
Familiarity with network fundamentals, security concepts, and remote troubleshooting practices.
Experience supporting diverse IT issues from individual user incidents to enterprise-wide operational events.
Ability to prioritize in a deadline-driven setting and quickly absorb new technical concepts.
Strong verbal and written communication skills across varying technical audiences.
Experience with tools and technologies such as:
Cisco / Fortinet network gear, NetBox, PRTG, Putty
Active Directory, SCCM, PowerShell, RDP, AnyConnect
VOIP systems, CUCX, CUCCX
ServiceNow, asset management systems
iOS/Android, MDM platforms, SharePoint, Access, Excel
Certifications a plus: A+, Network+, Security+, MS-900.
Valid driver s license required (regular class).
Physical Requirements:
Ability to perform onsite technical duties including lifting, moving, unpacking, installing, and troubleshooting PCs, peripherals, hardware, AV equipment, and related systems.
May involve bending, crawling under desks, carrying equipment, and handling shipments.
