A role you will love

As the Senior Java Software Engineer, you will work within an Agile environment to develop and support internal applications. Partnering with the business product owner, this role requires you to have strong technical skills, curiosity, a passion for delivering quality solutions and the drive to continually improve the quality and speed with which we deliver value to the business. You will also design, code, test, debug and document programs using Agile development practices. You will be part of delivery through the whole software development life cycle, including design, coding, automation testing, functional testing, and post deployment support.

Other key responsibilities include:

• Applying knowledge of standards, policies, best practice and organizational structure so that you can work both independently and collaboratively within your team and with key stakeholders
• Providing leadership with the software development life cycle, technical design, implementation, testing, deployment, and support for the CCT Application
• Program design, deployment, and ongoing Test Automation support
• Taking ownership and having the able to work independently
• Providing informal guidance and share knowledge with colleagues to enable them to contribute to the team's objectives
• Ensuring the quality of tasks, services and information provided by your team - through the quality of your own work and the support you provide to others - to ensure that your team delivers high-quality, maintainable software which adheres to internal standards and policies.
• Supporting the evaluation and resolution of technical challenges and blockers to minimize their impact on the teams' delivery and/or supported products
• Identifying and supporting improvements and innovation in technologies/practices within your team that would benefit the business e.g. efficiency in the software development process or improved customer experience
• Communicating effectively with a variety of technical and non-technical audiences to: share knowledge and ideas; provide updates; influence; challenge; and take on feedback

What will you bring to the role?

You'll also bring:

• 5+ years of Software Development within a Java framework (J2EE, web containers and Java)
• 5+ Experience with Spring Boot and other Spring projects such as Spring Data, Spring Integration Spring MVC, Spring Cloud, etc
• Experience in SOA and API development in any of the technologies: Rest, JSON, SOAP or similar technologies
• 5+ years' experience in any of the following middleware and Cloud platforms: Tomcat, Redhat OpenShift, Azure or similar technologies
• 3+ years of experience in SQL/PL SQL and Stored Procedure development using Oracle or SQL Server
• Experience as Azure DevOps, Docker, Kubernetes, and GitHub.
• Experience with agile, test-driven development
• Experience delivering solutions in large scale enterprise environments.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and proactive in troubleshooting
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

Bonus points if you have:

• Experience as Azure DevOps, Docker, Kubernetes and GitHub or similar technologies.
• Experience in any of the following UI technologies: JavaScript, React, Angular, JSON, CSS, JQuery, Ajax and HTML 5
• Experience with TDD/ATDD/ BDD
• Experience with containers and container orchestration such as Docker, Kubernetes etc
• Experience building the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
• Experience with defensive programming; knowledge of basic security exploits including Cross site Scripting, SQL injection, and Secure Web Headers
• Experience in using agile development tools such as JIRA, ADO Boards and Confluence
• Knowledge and understanding of Selenium software testing framework
• Secure SDLC (System Development Life Cycle) methodologies experience
