Position Overview
We're seeking a highly experienced technical lead to drive the implementation and evolution of financial systems built on the Workday platform. This role involves shaping moderately to highly complex projects, guiding architectural decisions, and mentoring less experienced team members. The ideal candidate will collaborate across departments to ensure technical solutions effectively support organizational goals and long-term strategies.
This is a hands-on leadership position focused on continuous innovation, engineering excellence, and enhancing system performance and maintainability. A strong foundation in Workday integrations and configuration, combined with excellent problem-solving abilities and stakeholder communication, is essential.
Core Qualifications
History of effective vendor coordination (3+ years)
Experience contributing to IT strategy and roadmap initiatives (3+ years)
Familiar with tools like Microsoft Project or similar project management software
Clear and confident communicator with experience engaging both technical and non-technical audiences
Skilled at identifying and resolving technical issues
Proven leadership in mentoring and developing junior engineers (2+ years)
Highly independent, organized, and goal-driven
Solid experience with SharePoint for content and document management (5+ years)
Experienced user of ITSM platforms (e.g., ServiceNow, JIRA, Quality Center) (5+ years)
Comfortable operating within both Agile and Waterfall delivery frameworks (3+ years)
Proficient with Atlassian tools such as Jira, Bitbucket, and Confluence (or similar platforms)
Strong background in working with geographically dispersed teams (5+ years)
Comfortable collaborating independently or within group settings (5+ years)
In-depth knowledge of accounting practices and related technologies (7+ years)
Extensive hands-on experience with Workday Financials, Procurement, and Revenue modules (7+ years)
Advanced understanding of Workday integrations: EIB, Core Connectors, Cloud Connect, and Studio (7+ years)
Competent in developing custom Workday reports and calculated fields (7+ years)
Background in integrating Workday with external third-party systems (7+ years)
Education
Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline
Key Responsibilities
Provide technical oversight and mentorship to a focused group of engineers
Evaluate dependencies and system interactions across application components
Manage task estimation, prioritization, and scheduling for self and others
Develop and refine detailed technical designs and specifications
Lead the build and deployment of system components based on those specifications
Conduct unit testing, debugging, and peer code reviews to ensure code quality
Proactively monitor for defects and ensure smooth implementation of updates
Research and recommend improvements to tools and development practices
Facilitate knowledge sharing sessions within the team
Guide conversations with business partners on timelines, expectations, and deliverables
Support applications in production and provide expert-level troubleshooting
Ensure all solutions comply with quality standards throughout the development life cycle
Participate in forecasting and demand planning conversations with internal stakeholders
Help coordinate full project cycles, ensuring timely delivery with high standards
Serve as the subject matter expert for assigned modules or system areas
Actively engage with business units to shape enterprise-wide solutions
Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability as priorities shift
