Position Summary:
The Production Manager is responsible for providing leadership and oversight across all levels of manufacturing operations. This role ensures that products are produced on schedule, within quality standards, and aligned with cost objectives. A key focus will be placed on strategic planning, continuous improvement, goal alignment, and company-wide initiatives aimed at improving quality, safety, efficiency, and profitability.
This is a hands-on leadership role in a high-mix, low-volume, engineered-to-order (ETO)/manufactured-to-order (MTO) environment, with additional emphasis on aftermarket/parts fulfillment, tribal knowledge retention, and the application of lean manufacturing practices.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead all aspects of daily production operations, ensuring products are manufactured to specifications, on time, and in compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Drive manufacturing performance through strategic KPIs including throughput, first-pass yield, rework rates, and lean metrics.
- Provide clear reporting and analysis to leadership to support data-driven decision-making.
- Foster a culture of safety by enforcing occupational health and safety standards and leading incident investigation and corrective action processes.
- Manage and develop the production team, setting expectations around quality, safety, and productivity while mentoring supervisory and technical talent.
- Implement strategic manufacturing initiatives such as lean manufacturing, standard work, and design-for-manufacturability practices, with emphasis on control panel assembly and complex system fabrication.
- Participate in early-stage product development to ensure manufacturability, including welder qualifications, procedure documentation, and WPS development for carbon, stainless, and alloy steel.
- Develop and recommend operational policies and process improvements to enhance competitive positioning and profitability.
- Optimize resource utilization by aligning workforce and materials to forecasted workload while documenting tribal knowledge to reduce training time and minimize errors.
- Collaborate closely with Finance, Quality, Sales, and Project Management to ensure alignment across functions and achieve targeted product margins.
- Lead root cause investigations and implement corrective/preventive actions related to manufacturing nonconformances, with a focus on eliminating variation and standardizing processes.
- Oversee manufacturing execution of ETO projects, including combustion systems, integrated system testing, and serialized component inspections.
- Set and monitor performance goals for direct reports with accountability for safety, quality, and on-time delivery.
- Lead and support continuous improvement projects across production and office functions, including waste reduction, layout optimization, and ERP utilization.
- Manage and coordinate plant projects such as capital equipment installations and major repairs or layout changes.
- Perform other duties as assigned, consistent with the needs of the department.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or related field; OR 7-10+ years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a production leadership role within an ETO/MTO capital equipment manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated expertise in fabrication, welding, and manufacturing of custom industrial equipment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; ERP system experience required (Microsoft Dynamics 365 strongly preferred).
- Proven success implementing lean manufacturing strategies, tribal knowledge capture, and cost-reduction initiatives.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging across all organizational levels and cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated leadership in coaching, team development, and performance management.
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills, with a hands-on approach to problem-solving and operational execution.
