Position Overview:
Milwaukee Public Schools is seeking an experienced Network Service Technician to provide ongoing support for a large enterprise network environment. The ideal candidate will have proven expertise with Cisco technologies, second-level support, and enterprise-grade network infrastructure. This is a long-term onsite role that requires reliability, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate with internal teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide network support and maintenance for Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, and other network infrastructure.
Perform installation, configuration, and IOS updates on Cisco equipment.
Respond to and resolve second-level support requests from the Technology Support Center.
Manage and maintain Cisco Wireless Access Points and related controllers.
Perform warranty equipment replacements and liaise with Cisco TAC Engineers.
Conduct capacity planning, traffic management, and performance monitoring.
Document problems, resolutions, procedures, and activities.
Undertake special projects addressing network support issues and process improvements.
Maintain compliance with CLIENT's technical and security requirements.
Qualifications:
Certification: Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) required; CCNP or CCIE preferred.
Technical Expertise:
o Cisco Routers (ASR901, ASR921, ASR1001, ASR1002, ASR1006).
o Cisco Switches (2960X, 2960L, 3400, 3560CG, 3560CX, 3850, 9300, 9606, Nexus Series).
o Cisco ASA Firewalls (5545, 5585).
o Cisco Wireless (Prime Infrastructure, 8510/8540 Controllers, 2702/2802/9130/1536D Access Points, Ubiquiti Bridges).
o Cisco Video & Telepresence Systems.
o Voice Systems (Mitel MiVoice Business 3300, MiCollab, MiVoice Border Gateway, Grandstream ATA).
o UPS Systems (Ferrups 7KVA, Vertiv GXT4, GXT5).
Experience in enterprise-level network support (K 12 experience a plus).
Strong knowledge of network integration, troubleshooting, and documentation.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Ability to maintain a stable and reliable presence throughout the contract duration.
Must pass CLIENT's criminal information background check
