Job Title: Lead Designer (Control Systems Designer)


Location: Houston, TX (Hybrid)


Pay Range: $70/hr - $80/hr


About the Role:



  • We are seeking a Lead Designer in the Telecom sector to join our team on a part-time telework basis.

  • This role involves planning, developing, and reviewing control systems design work, producing drawings and documentation, and preparing design estimates for projects.

  • You will coordinate with clients, facilitate technical discussions, and ensure compliance with all regulations and standards.

  • This position requires at least three day of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project.


Responsibilities:



  • Plan and conduct independent telecommunications work, applying engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria for medium-sized projects.

  • Lead the design, development, modification, and evaluation of telecommunication components and processes.

  • Communicate complex technical issues and recommend solutions to upper management.

  • Develop conceptual designs for telecommunications projects with specialized or unique requirements.

  • Support the preparation of estimates, staffing needs, and schedules.

  • Interpret new or special regulations, codes, standards, criteria, and performance data.

  • Coordinate with client representatives to obtain approval of telecommunications aspects of the work.

  • Conduct or lead special studies of new telecommunications engineering methods, materials, and techniques.

  • Mentor telecommunications engineering personnel and provide on-the-job training for their professional development.

  • Participate in special technical educational and training programs as directed.


Required Skill:



  • RCDD certification preferred.

  • Strong judgment and decision-making skill in telecommunications engineering.

  • Proficiency in using Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards, and (BSAPs).

  • Excellent communication skill to convey complex technical issues.

  • Ability to develop and interpret conceptual designs and technical documentation.

  • Experience in mentoring and training engineering personnel.
