Full-time | Direct Hire Position | Tampa Bay, FL - working East Coast hours
We are searching for a Lead Data Engineer for our Florida-based client. This is a hands-on technical Full-time (Direct Hire) position working remotely during East Coast hours. Candidates must live in EST or CST regions. Tampa Bay, FL area candidates highly preferred.
You will be an individual contributor responsible for the day-to-day activities related to growing and supporting the business and its initiatives and providing direction, mentoring, and upskilling to the other team members. You will lead 2-3 data engineers working on MS Stack DWH projects and support utilizing SQL Server 2019, Azure SQL Server, and Data Factory and migrating to Snowflake in Q4 of 2025.
Key Skills needed: SQL Server 2019, SSIS, Azure SQL, Data Factory, and Snowflake.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Lead a small team of data engineers; monitor projects and progress; gather and analyze business technical requirements; mentor and train as needed in newer technology tools (Snowflake and Azure)
- Collaborate with stakeholders, including data, design, product, and executive teams, and assist them with data-related technical issues
- Write, test, and troubleshoot complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and ETL processes
- Design, deploy, and support SSIS packages; maintain and support existing ETL processes
- Ensures a high degree of data quality from end to end across integrations
- Works with 3rd party data providers and APIs to pull data into Microsoft SQL Server
- Participates in method development, process improvement, and standardization
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or related experience.
- Proven experience in Microsoft T-SQL and Microsoft SQL Server database technologies (strong knowledge of stored procedures, ETLs, complex queries & joins, and user-defined functions)
- Data Integration technologies and principles experience with strong SSIS package development, deployment, and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience leading, mentoring, and assigning tasks to other data engineers
- Experience with data warehouse architecture and concepts, including data integration, data modeling, data quality, and ETL.
- Proven experience in cloud-based data engineering solutions, including Snowflake and experience in building and optimizing data pipelines, transformations, and scalable data models
- Experience building Data Management solutions on-premise and in the cloud (Azure SQL)
- Experience with Azure Data Factory.
- Strong understanding of data integration, data quality, and data governance
- Lead and participate in defining technical solutions, architecture improvements, technical reviews, and code reviews
- Experience in querying other databases such as Oracle and DB2
- API experience
