Job Title: Account Director – Life Sciences / Pharma
Location: Boston, MA (Hybrid / Onsite)
Department: Client Services / Account Management
Reports To: VP – Business Development
About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Account Director with a strong sales and client relationship management background to join our Life Sciences / Pharma division. The ideal candidate is a strategic “farmer” — focused on nurturing existing client relationships, expanding business through upselling and cross-selling, and ensuring client satisfaction and long-term partnership growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Client Relationship Management:
- Serve as the primary contact and trusted advisor for key life sciences and pharma clients.
- Build deep, consultative relationships with client stakeholders at multiple levels.
- Account Growth & Sales Leadership:
- Drive revenue growth within existing accounts by identifying upsell and cross-sell opportunities.
- Develop and execute strategic account plans aligned with client objectives and organizational goals.
- Meet or exceed account growth and retention targets.
- Strategic Planning & Partnership:
- Collaborate closely with internal teams (solutions, delivery, and marketing) to ensure seamless execution and identify additional value areas.
- Understand clients’ business drivers, challenges, and goals to proactively propose solutions that drive measurable outcomes.
- Forecasting & Reporting:
- Track account performance, revenue forecasts, and client health metrics.
- Provide regular business reviews and growth insights to senior leadership.
- Market & Industry Insight:
- Maintain a strong understanding of life sciences and pharmaceutical industry trends.
- Translate market insights into actionable strategies that strengthen client partnerships.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Business, Marketing, or related field.
- 8+ years of experience in account management or sales within the life sciences, pharma, or healthcare communications sector.
- Proven success in growing existing accounts through strategic relationship management, upselling, and cross-selling.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to translate client needs into tailored solutions.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence senior-level stakeholders.
Preferred Attributes
- Experience working with or selling to biotech, pharma, or healthcare clients.
- Familiarity with CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot) and account growth metrics.
- Strong strategic thinking, planning, and execution abilities.
