Position Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled NetOps programmer to join our customer s technical team. In this role, you will have a full stack role at the intersection of network engineering and software development. You will be tackling complex technical challenges in a Java Enterprise (J2EE)-based network management environment to provide innovative solutions for network performance management. You will work alongside other experienced technical resources in a dynamic environment, managing Broadcom s DX NetOps (including the SMARTS engine) in a Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems environment to ensure network service assurance. This role exists in a mature, tightly integrated environment where network engineering, automation, and Java-based management systems are already intertwined. Key Responsibilities
- Network Performance Management: Implement, configure, and manage Broadcom DX NetOps (formerly SMARTS) monitoring tools in production environments to ensure optimal network health.
- Automation & Scripting: Develop and maintain advanced scripts using Python and Perl to automate network operations and enhance efficiency.
- Software Development: Program within a Java Enterprise (J2EE) environment, utilizing technologies such as Java Server Faces (JSF v2), Enterprise Java Beans (EJB v3), and Ajax libraries.
- System Administration: Manage and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL v7/8) environments to support network operations.
- Documentation & Planning: Create professional network diagrams using MS Visio and develop comprehensive project plans using MS Project. Produce operational documentation following industry best practices.
- Agile Collaboration: Participate in daily scrum meetings, providing updates and collaborating with the team to engineer resolutions for complex problems.
Required Basic Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience Substitution: A Master s or Doctorate degree may substitute for the required years of experience.
- Experience Level: 7+ years of total relevant professional experience.
- On-site Requirement: Selected candidate must be willing to work on-site in Woodlawn, MD, 5 days a week.
- Work Authorization: Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust suitability determination after hire.
Required Technical Skills
To succeed in this role, candidates must demonstrate in-depth expertise in the following areas:
- Scripting: 5 7 years of experience with high-level scripting languages, specifically Python or Perl.
- Network Engineering: 5+ years of experience focusing on network performance management and TCP/IP network knowledge.
- Monitoring Tools: 5+ years of experience with the SMARTS enterprise network monitoring system, including at least 3 years of hands-on implementation and configuration.
- Operating Systems: 4+ years of combined experience with RHEL versions 7 and 8.
- Java Development: Hands-on experience programming in a J2EE environment (JSF 2, EJB 3).
- Version Control: Proficiency with tools such as GitHub and Bitbucket.
