Job Title: Solution Architect

Duration: Full-time.

Location: Hybrid/Chicago, IL

Description:

We are seeking a Solution Architect who excels not just in technical expertise, but in acting as a strategic advisor and bridge between business stakeholders and IT teams. This role requires someone with a consultant mindset, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to translate complex business needs into scalable and standards-compliant technology solutions.

You will work closely with agency stakeholders and the Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT) to understand business objectives across diverse domains, and guide the development and implementation of technology strategies aligned to those goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a trusted advisor and liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams across agencies and DoIT.
  • Understand business goals, challenges, and processes in various domains and translate them into technology roadmaps and architectural solutions.
  • Design and oversee the implementation of solutions that are scalable, secure, and aligned with enterprise standards.
  • Develop and maintain architectural roadmaps, standards, and capability maps across assigned domains.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend best-fit solutions to solve business problems.
  • Support change management related to architectural initiatives to minimize disruption to business operations.
  • Facilitate collaborative workshops and planning sessions to drive alignment and shared understanding among stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in solution architecture, consulting, or business analysis roles focused on translating business needs into technology strategies.
  • Proven track record of acting as a strategic partner to business leaders, not just as a technical resource.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead conversations with non-technical stakeholders.
  • 10+ years of experience delivering flexible, scalable, and standards-aligned technology solutions in complex environments.
  • Experience developing architectural roadmaps and governance frameworks using enterprise architecture tools and techniques.
  • Ability to work across multiple domains technical depth in a specific domain is less important than the ability to understand and consult across domains.
  • Experience in public sector or one or more government domains (Health & Human Services, Public Safety, Transportation, Workforce, etc.) is a plus, but not required.
  • Experience with ServiceNow Application Portfolio Management (APM) is preferred.
