Terms of Employment:

  • Contract, 12 Months (Likely Extension)
  • This position is remote. Candidates must be comfortable traveling to Reston, VA two-to-four times per year. with 2-4 onsite visits a year.
  • Candidates based in Maryland, Washington, DC, or Virginia are preferred but not required.

Overview and Key Responsibilities:

We are seeking a dedicated Senior Ab Initio Developer to join our client's Enterprise Data Platform team. This is a hands-on role where you will be instrumental in a major technology migration, ingesting and curating data from multiple sources. The team is responsible for bringing in data from various sources, curating it, and ensuring its successful consumption. You will play a key role in the transition from an existing Cloudera platform to a modern AWS ecosystem. We are looking for a self-starter with a strong background in Ab Initio and significant expertise in the AWS tech stack, particularly with services like EKS and Redshift. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, able to contribute to design discussions, and work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

You will

  • Develop and maintain data ingestion and processing pipelines using Ab Initio.
  • Actively participate in the migration of data platforms from Cloudera to the AWS tech stack.
  • Design and build solutions using AWS services such as Aurora, Redshift, and AWS EKS (Kubernetes).
  • Work closely with data analysts to understand requirements and support infrastructure upgrades.
  • Contribute to standard ETL and data processing activities that support the organization s data products.
  • Provide support during an on-call rotation to handle escalated issues.
  • Collaborate with team members on design aspects and in a team-oriented environment.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and 5+ years of extensive experience in Ab Initio development, including Change Data Capture (CDC).
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with the AWS tech stack including AWS EKS.
  • Strong knowledge of at least one programming language, such as SQL, NoSQL, or Python.
  • Solid understanding of database design and implementation concepts.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and contribute to design aspects as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the health insurance industry.
  • Hands-on experience with Cloudera Hadoop.
  • Working knowledge of Apache Hive.
  • Experience with the Hadoop ecosystem, including Hive, Spark, and Spark Streaming.
  • Proficiency in PostgreSQL.
