Overview
We are seeking an experienced Endpoint Engineering R&D Specialist to lead the design, research, and development of advanced endpoint and application solutions for the Military Health System (MHS) hybrid environment. This role focuses on innovating desktop, mobile, and application integration technologies, delivering forward-looking, compliant solutions in support of DHA mission requirements.
The R&D Specialist drives technical innovation, explores emerging technologies, and develops methodologies to transition endpoints and applications from on-premises solutions to cloud and SaaS platforms while ensuring enterprise-wide security and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the research, design, development, and testing of operating system-level software, compilers, and network distribution solutions for medical, military, and enterprise applications.
- Engineer enterprise endpoint frameworks for both on-premises and hybrid cloud environments, including desktop, mobile, and virtual endpoints.
- Develop methodologies and standards to transition MECM enterprise packages to modern endpoint management platforms like Intune.
- Architect, engineer, and maintain application integration solutions, including deployment, configuration, and baseline application support.
- Design and implement solutions to validate security compliance, including RMF, DISA STIGs, NIST standards, and Zero Trust principles.
- Conduct research on emerging endpoint technologies, deployment strategies, and automation techniques to improve enterprise efficiency and security posture.
- Develop and test desktop and OS images, task sequences, GPOs, and software packages to support new and existing DHA endpoints.
- Engineer mobile endpoint solutions, including device provisioning, management, application deployment, and lifecycle support.
- Provide technical guidance and develop engineering packages, diagrams, and documentation for enterprise and DHA stakeholders.
- Record and maintain IA artifacts, POA&Ms, risk assessments, and continuous monitoring evidence in eMASS to support RMF compliance.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Expertise in research, development, and engineering of endpoint solutions in hybrid IT environments.
- Hands-on experience with MECM/SCCM, Intune, Windows OS imaging, and desktop/mobile provisioning.
- Strong knowledge of application integration, packaging, and automation for enterprise deployments.
- Deep understanding of RMF, DISA STIGs, NIST standards, IA controls, and Zero Trust frameworks.
- Experience designing and testing embedded systems, compilers, or OS-level software preferred.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and documentation skills for R&D initiatives.
Preferred Certifications
- DoD 8570/8140 Baseline Certification (Security+ CE, CISSP, CASP+, CISM)
- Microsoft Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate or Azure Administrator
- ITIL v4 Foundation or equivalent
- Experience with MDM platforms (Intune, VMware Workspace ONE)
Education & Experience
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3 5 years of experience in endpoint engineering R&D, software development, or application integration in DoD or large enterprise environments.
- Clearance Required: Active Secret (or higher, as applicable)
