Role: Solutions Architect
Location: On-site in either one of these locations:

Washington DC, Eagan MN, St Louis MO, Wilkes-Barre PA, San Mateo CA, Raleigh or Morrisville NC
Duration: 12 months

Note: candidates meet the residency requirements (Last 5 years in the US with no more than 6 months out of the country).

Services required include, in varying degrees:

  • Business application analysis
  • Application technical requirements definition
  • Application architecture and design including tech stack recommendations
  • Graphic design to prepare slides for executive leadership team presentations
  • Thorough project documentation
  • Project management

-- SCOPE --

We are seeking to obtain Supplier support for on-going CASI work efforts and new efforts as they arise. The resource s work such as researching and producing enterprise architectural assessments will ultimately support all business areas with which CASI interacts.

The Supplier provides several general classes of services including (but not limited to):

  • Assessment
  • Evaluation
  • Requirements analysis
  • Architecture
  • Design
  • Technical planning
  • Process management
  • Reporting

Development of software applications is outside the scope of this statement of work.

DESCRIPTION: Solutions Architect quantity UP TO 2

  • Chosen resource must demonstrate these capabilities through actual work experience not merely training
    • Ability to research, analyze, and evaluate existing and proposed business systems and procedures, develop requirements and identify system solutions in detailed measurable terms that achieve optimum performance and cost effectiveness.
    • Strong proficiency in technical illustration using tools such as draw.io, Microsoft Visio, PowerPoint.
    • Expert knowledge of cloud services from one or more of the primary Cloud Service Providers (CSPs)(Amazon, Microsoft or Google), and the ability to integrate cloud services with on-premise technologies from Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, HP, Linux, SAP, etc.
    • Experience leading the design, development and deployment of performant cloud business software at scale; or current hands-on experience implementing cloud technology infrastructure, network, compute, storage, and virtualization.
    • Communication, orally and in writing, sufficient to develop and present management briefings; provide written and/or verbal guidance on technical issues; and prepare/present recommendations and reports.
  • Chosen resource should exhibit through actual work experience not merely training:
    • Have practical experience using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Anthropic, agentic AI approaches.
    • Exhibit high level of technical competence in using operating environments, tools, and technologies commonly used in best-practice solution architectures.
    • Demonstrate automating complex tasks using scripting or coding skills, or tools (e.g., shell, Python, Ruby, PowerShell, Ansible, Terraform, CloudFormation, Chef, or Puppet).
    • Have prior experience within USPS, such as designing, developing, implementing, or maintaining compute technology.
    • Understand the USPS business processes that support systems and operations related to writing architecture assessments assigned to them.

DESCRIPTION

The resource may be tasked with the creation and submittal of reports, analysis, advice, studies, alternatives, evaluations, models, and/or similar documents.

Must extract information through internal USPS stakeholder engagement, to deliver current and future state journey maps and other information included in USPS architecture assessment template.

Timelines for completion are outlined by USPS on a per assessment basis, and priorities may shift at any time.

DELIVERABLES

Assessment documentation following USPS template (Microsoft Word illustrated with Visio, draw.io or similar) and CIO briefings (PowerPoint) as assigned. This includes journey maps, solution architecture, implementation plan, key performance indicators (KPIs) of success of proposed design solution, cost analysis of proposed tech stack.
