  • This role focuses on Solaris OS management, system-level troubleshooting, automation, and PeopleSoft platform support, particularly in middleware and environment maintenance. The ideal candidate brings expertise in both Solaris/Linux administration and enterprise application hosting, with a strong emphasis on upgrades, security, and integration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and support Solaris SPARC and Linux systems, including installation, configuration, patching, performance tuning, and security hardening.
  • Configure and manage Solaris Zones/Containers and administer Veritas Volume Manager (VxVM) and Veritas Cluster Server (VCS) for storage and high availability.
  • Ensure security compliance by applying Unix and Windows OS patches, firmware upgrades, and monitoring system health. Perform OS upgrades for Solaris and Windows environments, migrating from legacy to the latest supported versions in complex enterprise settings. Develop automation scripts using PowerShell and Linux shell scripting to streamline maintenance, monitoring, and reporting. Implement platform migrations (e.g., Windows to Unix or vice versa) as part of system lifecycle planning.
  • Responsible for setting up, automating, and maintaining Linux servers, including FTP services and scripts.
  • This includes managing scheduled tasks via cron jobs to ensure secure and efficient data transfers.
  • Plan, configure, test and support Disaster Recovery (DR) environments, conduct system backups, environment cloning and refreshes, and perform ongoing system maintenance to ensure high availability, performance, and data integrity.
  • Troubleshoot OS and middleware-level issues related to PeopleSoft components such as Tuxedo, WebLogic, and Process Scheduler.
  • Provision and maintain PeopleSoft environments across development, testing, and production tiers, including installations, builds, and refreshes.
  • Coordinate and apply PeopleSoft application and PeopleTools patches and upgrades, working closely with application and database teams. Monitor system and application logs; investigate and resolve issues at both the OS and middleware layers. Collaborate with DBAs, infrastructure, cybersecurity, networking, and application teams to ensure high system availability and performance. Support integration of infrastructure with firewalls, F5 load balancers, databases, and external systems or vendors.
