Job Details

A top trading firm is seeking a Windows Systems Engineer to join their Chicago based team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience managing Windows Server environments and/or VMware, with a deep understanding of Microsoft services and networking fundamentals. This role requires a proactive individual who can ensure system reliability, security, and performance in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain Windows Server infrastructure and/or VMware virtualization platforms.
  • Manage and configure Microsoft services, including: Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Exchange, and Group Policy.
  • Oversee Microsoft cloud services (e.g., Azure, Office 365).
  • Implement and maintain network protocols and troubleshoot connectivity issues.
  • Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts for automation and system management.
  • Monitor system performance, apply patches, and ensure compliance with security standards.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to support trading systems and critical applications.
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning and execution.
  • Provide technical support and resolve escalated issues promptly.

Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in Windows Server administration or VMware environments.
  • Strong knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
  • Expertise in Active Directory, Exchange, Group Policy, and related Microsoft services.
  • Experience with Microsoft cloud platforms (Azure, Office 365).
  • Advanced PowerShell scripting skills for automation and administration.
  • Solid troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities in high-pressure environments.
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes is a plus


This role must work onsite in the firms Chicago office.
