Locations: Washington, DC , Hyattsville, MD , Alexandria, VA (All Three Main Locations but primary work site will be at home. Need to come on site on average a few days a week)

Job Description

We are looking for a Solution Architect to define and maintain the architectural frameworks/patterns, processes, standards, and guidelines related to all aspects of the Digital Ecosystem.

What You'll Do

  • Align broader strategic vision around business needs, resulting in technology roadmaps
  • Conduct business capabilities mapping and cataloging business processes
  • Confer with business units and application development staff to understand both the business and technical requirements and to define architectural constraints
  • Define and maintain the architectural frameworks/patterns, processes, standards, and guidelines related to all aspects of the Digital Ecosystem.
  • Create and maintain diagrams of as-is and to-be architectures
  • Provide technical and architectural subject matter expertise to various project teams, including development of technology decision-making frameworks and supporting technology decisions throughout the technology lifecycle
  • Establish governance best-practices and standards to streamline the technology implementation lifecycle for both off-the-shelf and homegrown solutions including on premises and cloud (SaaS, IaaS, PaaS) architectures
  • Support the agency's data governance program including development of policies & standards, roles & responsibilities needed to ensure data is managed as an enterprise asset
  • Facilitate technology change management programs and support enterprise technology initiatives
  • Create and assess performance metrics to determine the effectiveness of architecture and governance initiatives
  • Maintain an eye toward continuous improvement of all architecture and governance systems, practices, policies, and artifacts
  • Produce complete and accurate documentation for work based on best practices & client standards
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the authority



What You'll Need

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, computer science, information systems management, or related field and experience commensurate with the requested level; if no degree, equivalent experience in database administration, IT systems management, or software/cloud/data engineering
  • 7 years of professional experience working with technology systems engineering, management, or architecture
  • 2 years of professional experience related to enterprise architecture, IT governance, or data governance
  • 2 years of professional experience working within large technology enterprises
  • 2 years of experience with a recognized enterprise architecture framework (TOGAF, FEAF, Zachman International, etc.)
  • 2 years of engineering or architecture experience with cloud services on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure or Azure
  • 2 years of experience with data management technologies & solutions
  • Familiarity with modern software/cloud technologies including containers, data pipelines, data lakes, CI/CD, integration platforms, DevSecOps, zero trust
  • Familiarity enterprise application platforms including PeopleSoft, Oracle Fusion, Adobe Experience Platform, ServiceNow, Power Platform
  • Demonstrated ability to determine work requirements and perform work without supervision
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks within restrictive timeframes
  • Detail-oriented, able to work independently, self-motivated, proactive team player
  • Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language with excellent communication skills
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess business requirements

Preferred:

  • Proficient in MS Office suite, MS Visio, or other technology visualization software
  • Strong visual communication skills: technical schematics and architecture diagrams, slide decks, data visualization
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for explaining technical concepts to a variety of audiences, including experience developing as-is and to-be documentation of enterprise technology environments, developing policy and procedure documents, and project charters
  • Ability to alternate focus from big-picture, enterprise, strategic viewpoints to tactical, detailed perspectives

Physical Demands

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state, and local standards
  • Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.
