Learn about the Trident II D5 Fleet Ballistic Missile
We are currently seeking a Systems Engineer to support the Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) Common Missile Compartment (CMC) specifically in the Risk and Opportunity Management arena as well as engineering project support.
The successful candidate will join our team of systems Engineers working on Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) products.
In this role you will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks, as well as identifying and capitalizing on opportunities to improve program performance, quality, and cost. This is a critical role that will require collaboration with cross-functional teams, including engineering, program management, and operations.
As a CMC Systems Engineer, you will:
Develop and maintain a comprehensive risk management plan that aligns with program objectives and contractual requirements
Identify, assess, and prioritize risks using industry-recognized methodologies and LM command media
Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies, including contingency planning and risk monitoring
Collaborate with engineering teams to identify and assess technical risks, and develop mitigation plans
Identify opportunities for process improvements, cost savings, and performance enhancements
Develop and maintain opportunity management plans, including tracking and reporting on opportunity implementation and benefits realization
Provide risk and opportunity management guidance and support to program managers and team members
Develop and deliver risk and opportunity management training and awareness programs
Participate in program reviews, audits, and assessments to ensure compliance with risk and opportunity management policies and procedures
Maintain accurate and up-to-date risk and opportunity management records and reports
Support as needed on engineering efforts within a variety of Special Test Vehicle products as well as MBSE efforts developing verification of existing Missile compatibility with new US and UK submarine platforms
Basic Qualifications
Knowledge of Systems Engineering principles and practices
Familiarity with Risk and Opportunity Management policies and procedures
Familiarity with Confluence, Jira and/or other Agile tools and processes
Demonstrated ability to learn new software tools and applications
Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance; ship required
Desired skills
Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline
Master's Degree in relevant field
Familiarity with Lockheed Martin's risk and opportunity management policies and procedures
Experience with opportunity management methodologies and tools
Experience with DOORS requirements management tool
Familiarity with Cameo Model Based Software
Experience with developing products for the Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) Program
Experience with process development and deployment
Experience working with cross-functional teams, including engineering, program management, and operations
Missile or space segment design and test experience with one or more subsystems or disciplines outside of Systems Engineering
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong social skills, and ability to build consensus among peers while building solid relationships with team members
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple priorities and deadlines
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to think critically and creatively

For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer. Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays.
