AWS Cloud Architect (Remote) Part-time contract, (estimated 10-15 hours/week during initial phase)
6-month contract with extension
Pay Range (Market Rate)

Summary
Our client is transitioning our infrastructure from AWS to Shopify and is looking for an experienced AWS Cloud Architect to lead the shutdown of our AWS environment cost-effectively and efficiently. This is a part-time contract role with an initial focus on decommissioning, followed by quarterly check-ins to audit any remaining AWS usage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning and execution of AWS infrastructure shutdown as we move to Shopify.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce costs and eliminate unnecessary AWS services.
  • Ensure smooth handoff and documentation of any necessary data or services during the transition.
  • Maintain compliance with internal security and data retention policies.
  • Conduct quarterly audits of the AWS environment post-shutdown to:
    • Review resource usage and billing.
    • Provide insights and recommendations.
    • Prevent unnecessary charges and maintain cost transparency.
Required Skills
  • Proven experience as an AWS Cloud Architect, Solutions Architect, or in a similar cloud infrastructure role. (AWS certification (e.g., Solutions Architect Associate/Professional)
  • Strong expertise in AWS cost optimization and resource decommissioning.
  • Experience with eCommerce platforms, particularly Shopify
  • Experience leading or supporting cloud migration projects.
  • Familiarity with tools like AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Budgets, or third-party cost management tools
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Self-starter comfortable working independently on a flexible schedule.
