Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst with strong expertise in Pharmacy Benefits Management Systems (PBMS) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of pharmacy benefit operations, drug rebate processes, and hands-on experience bridging business needs with technical development teams. This role requires proficiency in Agile methodologies, including backlog management, sprint planning, and product ownership, as well as the ability to collaborate closely with developers to ensure high-quality solution delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the Business Analyst/Product Owner for PBMS initiatives, managing requirements, priorities, and backlog for development teams
- Lead sprint planning, backlog refinement, and daily Agile ceremonies to ensure alignment across stakeholders and development teams
- Gather, document, and translate business requirements into user stories and acceptance criteria for development teams
- Collaborate with technical developers, providing clarifications, reviewing deliverables, and ensuring solutions meet business needs
- Partner with business stakeholders, including pharmacy operations, compliance, and finance, to support PBMS enhancements and integrations
- Provide subject matter expertise in CMS/Federal drug rebate processes, ensuring compliance and accuracy in system functionality
- Conduct impact analyses, identify gaps, and recommend solutions for new features, system upgrades, or process changes
- Support end-to-end testing efforts, including test case development, validation, and defect resolution
- Prepare documentation, workflows, and training materials as needed for stakeholders and end-users
Qualifications:
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Healthcare Administration, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
- 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Product Owner, or related role in healthcare, PBM, or Medicaid/Medicare-related systems
- Strong knowledge of Agile development methodologies (Scrum, SAFe, or equivalent)
- Proven experience managing sprints, backlogs, and Agile ceremonies in collaboration with cross-functional teams
- Working knowledge of the CMS/Federal drug rebate process
- Hands-on experience working directly with technical development teams, ideally with a background as a software developer or technical analyst
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and documentation skills
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities with attention to detail
Preferred:
- Previous experience in a PBMS implementation or modernization project
- Experience with Medicaid/Medicare programs and CMS regulatory requirements
- Technical skills in SQL, data analysis, or system integration concepts
- Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or similar Agile certification
