Job Title : Senior GIS Systems Architect

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior GIS Systems Architect to lead the design, deployment, and management of a robust ArcGIS Enterprise architecture. This critical role will focus on implementing and supporting secure, scalable, and high-availability GIS solutions aligned with organizational and statewide geospatial needs.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with ESRI s ArcGIS Enterprise platform, systems architecture, enterprise geodatabase integration, and automation tools. This is a strategic technical leadership position with hands-on responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Architecture Design & Planning
  • Design, document, and implement a multi-environment GIS architecture (Staging and Production) following best practices.
  • Define system requirements for network configuration, security, storage, and high availability.
  • Develop detailed architecture diagrams identifying servers, ports, databases, and essential services.
• Deployment & Configuration
  • Install and configure ArcGIS Enterprise 11.3 (or later) across multiple environments, including:
    • Portal for ArcGIS
    • ArcGIS Server
    • ArcGIS Web Adaptor
    • ArcGIS Data Store / Object Store
    • SQL Server enterprise geodatabase (Staging and Production)
• Infrastructure Integration
  • Collaborate with IT infrastructure teams to manage DNS, ports, firewall policies, and server configurations.
  • Review and recommend ESRI licensing structures to support advanced GIS workflows including branch versioning and multi-user editing via Portal.
• Data Management & Automation
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize enterprise geospatial data and services.
  • Automate GIS system deployment, monitoring, and maintenance using scripting tools such as Python (ArcPy) and PowerShell.
• Disaster Recovery & Monitoring
  • Define and implement backup and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Utilize tools such as ArcGIS Monitor, System Log Parser, and System Designer for performance tracking and health monitoring.
• Technical Leadership & Support
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to GIS analysts and staff.
  • Lead knowledge transfer sessions to improve internal GIS administrative capabilities.

Required Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

• Esri Certified Enterprise System Design Professional (ESDP2201)
• Experience with:
  • ArcGIS Monitor, System Designer, System Log Parser, and eGDB Health
  • DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines for GIS deployments
  • Automating GIS workflows and environment provisioning
