Job Title: Cloud Native Data Security Engineer
Work Location: 100% Remote in the US (EST Hours)
Position Type: 4 months Contract to Hire
Conversion Salary / Annual Compensation: $160,000 - $175,000 / year + Bonus




ABOUT OUR CLIENT / ABOUT THIS ROLE
Medix is seeking a Data Security Engineer for a contract to hire opportunity with our top healthcare data client.


Our client is a non-profit healthcare services organization that is scaling a brand-new cloud-native ecosystem for their flagship product - a single source of truth for healthcare providers, authorization and membership data.


The ideal candidate should have foundational healthcare data experience in data analytics, data science, ETL pipelines, as well as both relational and NoSQL databases. We are seeking prior experience in implementing DLP and cloud-native Data Security Posture Management solutions - such as Varonis, Prisma or Wiz.




RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Reporting to a Director of Data Security, and collaborating with leaders/ executives from across the company. Exceptional communication skills and finesse are required for this role.

  • Contributing to the enterprise-wide data protection strategy - from DLP to DSPM, data ingestion, and data movement throughout the cloud-native ecosystem. Microsoft Azure experience is preferred over AWS or Google Cloud Platform.

  • Executing on the strategy for data protection and data security posture management for a public-facing cloud native application that uses cloud data stores and APIs.

  • Researching, designing and implementing DSPM with tools like Varonis, Prisma, Wiz - protecting healthcare data at rest, data in transit, and data in use.

  • Working with large amounts of structured and unstructured healthcare data feeding into this ecosystem

  • Partnering collaboratively with the Data Engineering / Data Science teams to design and engineer the Data Security solutions:

  • Implementing data rights enforcement and role-based access controls.

  • Leading efforts to mask sensitive data

  • Leading inventory and classification of data with Microsoft Purview

  • Integrating DLP/DSPM tools with SIEM for incident response.

  • Developing and enforcing data protection policies, applying/tuning DLP policies.

  • Analyzing DLP alerts, leading data monitoring/threat detection.

  • documenting / mapping data flows.

  • Working with large amounts of healthcare data moving in and out of a customer-facing, cloud-native application ecosystem and directly supporting HITRUST/HIPAA compliance.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS



  • Required - Permanent Work Authorization

  • Exceptional communication skills

  • 7-10+ Years of professional experience in engineering solutions for Data and Data Security

  • Prior Healthcare experience and/or Highly Regulated Data compliance is required

  • Implementation of Data Security Posture Management with Varonis, Prisma, Wiz, etc.

  • Data Classification with Microsoft Purview

  • Microsoft Azure expertise
