Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled On-Premise System Administrator to manage and maintain our on-premise infrastructure. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of servers, networks, and firewall rule configurations, with additional experience in cloud environments such as AWS and Azure. This role requires a self-starter with a proven ability to handle complex tasks and possess expertise in system administration technologies such as VMware. The successful candidate will also demonstrate experience in vendor management and project management, as well as proficiency with a range of technologies and systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot on-premises server infrastructure, including Windows and Linux servers.
- Manage and configure network components, ensuring optimal performance and security.
- Implement and manage firewall rule configurations to maintain a secure network environment.
- Monitor and maintain system health, ensuring high availability and performance of critical resources.
- Perform server operating system upgrades and manage vendor patching.
- Collaborate with the IT team to design, implement, and maintain virtualized environments using VMware.
- Provide support and manage cloud environments, including AWS and Azure integration and administration.
- Develop and implement automation scripts to streamline system administration tasks.
- Perform routine system audits, updates, and patches to ensure systems are up-to-date and compliant with security standards.
- Respond to and resolve technical issues in a timely manner, providing excellent user support.
- Document system configurations, procedures, and changes accurately.
- Administer and manage Active Directory (AD) and domain controllers, ensuring proper configuration and maintenance.
- Create and manage group policies to enforce security and compliance requirements.
- Administer and manage firewalls, including SonicWall and Palo Alto firewalls.
- Manage storage solutions including Isilon, Vblock, VxRail, Data Domain, and Avamar.
- Manage relationships with vendors, ensuring the timely procurement of IT resources and services.
- Lead and participate in IT projects, ensuring project milestones and deliverables are met on schedule.
- Communicate effectively with team members, stakeholders, and users to provide clear updates and technical support.
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation, reports, and project updates.
Required Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a System Administrator, Network Administrator, or similar role.
- Strong understanding of server infrastructure, including Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Proficiency in network configuration and management, including firewall administration.
- Hands-on experience with VMware virtualization technologies.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure.
- Solid knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) for automation.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Proactive and self-motivated attitude with a willingness to learn and adapt.
- Experience in vendor management, ensuring effective communication and collaboration with third-party vendors.
- Demonstrated experience in project management, including planning, execution, and monitoring of IT projects.
- Knowledge and experience in administering Active Directory and domain controllers.
- Experience in managing group policies.
- Experience with SonicWall and Palo Alto firewalls.
- Knowledge of storage solutions including Isilon, Vblock, VxRail, Data Domain, and Avamar.
- Strong soft skills, including effective communication, writing, and the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, or Azure Administrator Associate.
- Experience with other system administration tools and technologies (e.g., Active Directory, DNS, DHCP).
- Knowledge of ITIL best practices and documentation standards.
