Title - Data Modeler / Data Architect

Location: Remote (Preferred if can go flexible onsite Hemlock, Michigan)

Client is seeking an experienced Data Architect/Data Modeler to design and implement a robust, scalable, and platform-agnostic data architecture. This role will be critical in addressing our current data management challenges, improving data quality, and enabling advanced analytics capabilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of data governance, metadata management, and data modeling best practices. You will work closely with business stakeholders, IT teams, and other data professionals to define and execute a comprehensive data strategy.

Responsibilities:

Design and develop a platform-agnostic data architecture based on industry standards like ISA 95.

Create and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models.

Develop and implement a semantic layer to ensure data understandability and trustworthiness.

Define and implement data governance policies and procedures.

Establish and manage metadata repositories, including data ownership and definitions.

Conduct gap analysis of the current data landscape and identify areas for improvement.

Collaborate with business users to understand their data needs and requirements.

Work with Enterprise Architects and other stakeholders to define data domain strategies, focusing initially on the quality domain.

Provide expertise in data modeling and architecture best practices.

Assist in the migration of existing systems to the new data architecture.

Support the development of data pipelines and data quality initiatives.

Contribute to the business case and value articulation for data initiatives.

Enable predictive analytics and AI readiness by ensuring high-quality, well-structured data.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

Proven experience as a Data Architect

Data Modeler/Architect

Strong understanding of data modeling techniques (e.g., dimensional modeling, relational modeling).

Experience with data governance and metadata management.

Knowledge of data architecture principles and best practices.

Familiarity with various data platforms and technologies, including data lakes and data warehouses.

Experience with data integration and ETL processes.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with ISA 95 standards.

Knowledge of Spotfire and other analytics tools.

Experience with DataBricks.

Familiarity with quality domain data in a manufacturing environment.

Additional Information:

This role will initially focus on the quality domain as a proof of concept, with the goal of expanding the data architecture to other domains over time. The successful candidate will play a key role in enabling augmented decision-making and advanced analytics.
