Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Android Developer with a passion for innovation, ownership, and hands-on development to join our RED Automation Labs team in Plano, TX. In this role, you ll convert an existing Android application into a reusable template and adapt it to new equipment. This is a high-ownership, end-to-end development position focused on creating a robust Alpha prototype for a field trial.
Key Responsibilities:
Redesign and refactor an existing Android application for restaurant equipment into a scalable and reusable template.
Customize the standardized template for a new type of industrial equipment.
Manage all aspects of the application lifecycle: design, coding, debugging, deployment, and support.
Lead the roll-out of an Alpha prototype for field trials and incorporate feedback into iterative improvements.
Implement remote logging and configuration using tools such as Datadog and Firebase/Firestore.
Develop intuitive UI/UX designs tailored for industrial user interactions.
Collaborate cross-functionally with automation engineers, PLC specialists, and product teams.
Document and follow best practices in software engineering, testing, deployment, and operations.
Required Qualifications:
5 10+ years of professional experience in Kotlin Android app development.
Demonstrated experience developing and supporting full-feature Android applications independently.
Experience with remote logging and configuration tools (e.g., Datadog, Firebase/Firestore).
Proven ability in UI/UX design for mobile interfaces.
Strong understanding of software development best practices including version control, CI/CD integration, and testing.
Highly self-sufficient and eager to lead and own the solution in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with MQTT protocol.
Familiarity with industrial automation systems or automated equipment.
Understanding of PLC systems and ladder logic.
