Job Title: Systems Engineer - Data Center Technician
Position Summary:
We are seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Systems Engineer to support day-to-day operations in a dynamic data center environment. This role is ideal for someone with 1-3 years of experience in data center operations, cabling, and hardware support. The position is 100% onsite and involves physical work, including walking, lifting, ladder use, and under-floor access.

Position Summary:
We are seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Systems Engineer to support day-to-day operations in a dynamic data center environment. This role is ideal for someone with 1-3 years of experience in data center operations, cabling, and hardware support. The position is 100% onsite and involves physical work, including walking, lifting, ladder use, and under-floor access.
Key Responsibilities:
- Respond to and resolve support tickets using ServiceNow
- Perform rack and stack of IT hardware and network equipment
- Troubleshoot and resolve power, cabling, and connectivity issues
- Work in AV and TR closets, tracing and installing copper and fiber cables
- Provide Level 1 network support, including:
- Testing and cleaning fiber and copper cables
- Replacing SFPs and patch cables as needed
- Maintain and update inventory using DCIM tools (e.g., NetTerrain - training provided)
- Assist with asset tagging, shipping, and decommissioning of hardware
- Collaborate with field techs for equipment configuration and logistics
- Use tools such as Fluke and NetAlly for network testing (training available)
- Support data center decommissioning efforts in Franklin
- Follow safety protocols and assist with under-floor and ladder-based tasks
Required Qualifications:
- 1-3 years of experience in a data center or infrastructure support role
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with copper vs. fiber cabling, including multimode fiber
- Experience with ServiceNow or similar ITSM platforms
- Ability to work independently and manage physical tasks (lifting, walking, etc.)
- Must be punctual, reliable, and committed to onsite work regardless of weather
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with asset management and shipping logistics
- Work experience in network cabling, electrical work, or wireless engineering
- Familiarity with structured cabling systems and data center best practices
Work Environment:
- Fast-paced, hands-on, and deadline-driven
- Mix of full-time employees and contractors (50/50 team structure)
- Minimal weekend or evening work (primarily handled by FTEs)
- One second-shift technician on staff; this role is day shift only
