What You Will Be Doing
The Operations Systems & Modeling AI team is seeking an experienced manager to lead the AI for Operations portfolio. You will set strategic direction, oversee end to end delivery of AI solutions that support production, and ensure the team meets schedule and budget targets while championing data governance and cross functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership - Help define then vision, roadmap, and KPIs; align AI initiatives with corporate objectives.
Team Management - Recruit, develop, and mentor a multidisciplinary team of data scientists, Machine Learning (ML) engineers, and software developers.
Program & Budget Oversight - Create and manage multi year budgets (>$2 M), forecast resource needs, and report financial health to senior leadership.
Solution Delivery - Direct design, development, testing, and deployment of scalable AI solutions; ensure code quality, security, and maintainability.
Stakeholder & Change Management - Partner with manufacturing, supply chain, and engineering leaders to capture requirements, communicate roadmap, and drive adoption through training and support.
Data Governance & Compliance - Enforce policies for data lineage, security, and regulatory compliance; oversee metadata & catalog implementation.
Continuous Improvement - Promote Agile, DevOps, and CI/CD best practices; evaluate emerging AI technologies (LLMs, Generative AI, agentic frameworks) and assess ROI.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, AI/ML, related field considered

Experience leading technical teams in a regulated environment.

Proven track record of developing and managing budgets of $2 M +; skilled in cost benefit analysis, forecasting, and financial reporting.

Hands on proficiency in Python and major ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch); ability to evaluate models and guide architecture decisions.

Desired skills

- Communication & Leadership - Excellent written and oral communication; adept at presenting technical concepts to senior executives and non technical audiences, and driving cross functional teamwork.
- Previous leadership experience.
- Advanced degree (M.S./Ph.D.) or MBA.
- Familiarity with Large Language Models, Generative AI, and agentic AI frameworks.
- Deep expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform) and container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Understanding of aircraft manufacturing processes, supply chain logistics, and lean principles.
- Experience with vendor/contract negotiation and ITAR/DoD data handling compliance.
- Strong background in statistical modeling, hypothesis testing, and performance validation tied to operational metrics.
- Software Engineering & DevOps - Experience with back end development, CI/CD pipelines, Git version control, and cloud native deployment (AWS/Azure/Google Cloud Platform).

Work Schedule Information

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

National Pay Statement

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $128,200 - $225,975. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays.
(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.

Premium Pay Statement

For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
