Overview

Who We Are
We're not here to maintain the status quo - we're here to rewrite it and innovate at the pace of need. Our team is laser-focused on creating cutting-edge RFID solutions for the DoD that bring passive and active RFID tech to life, solving tough integration challenges across global sites.

LMI: Innovation at the Pace of Need
At LMI, we're reimagining the path from insight to outcome at the new speed of possible. Combining a legacy of over 60 years of federal expertise with our innovation ecosystem, we minimize time to value and accelerate mission success. We energize the brightest minds with emerging technologies to inspire creative solutioning and push the boundaries of capability. LMI advances the pace of progress, enabling our customers to thrive while adapting to evolving mission needs.

Responsibilities

The Opportunity
We're looking for a UX/UI Designer to take the work on the desktop and mobile experience for our RFID solution, working as part of a cross-functional product team. You'll design for Widnows and Android devices used in military settings - crafting interfaces that are intuitive, fast, and purpose-built for field users. In this role, you will be the primary driver of the mobile UX, working in tandem with product managers, mobile engineers, and our core web platform team.

This is equal parts strategic thinker, technical collaborator, and product evangelist. If you thrive in ambiguity, love building something from the ground up, and want to make a tangible difference, we want you.

What You'll Do
  • Design intuitive, task-focused interfaces for our Android app used on Zebra rugged devices.
  • Collaborate closely with product owners and field users to capture mobile-specific needs, use cases, and pain points.
  • Create wireframes, prototypes, visual designs, and interaction patterns tailored for field conditions and hardware constraints.
  • Ensure mobile designs align with the broader platform design system and UX philosophy.
  • Participate in usability testing, user interviews, and field validation - then iterate based on real-world feedback.
  • Support developers during implementation and maintain design fidelity through to delivery.
  • Contribute to the evolution of our mobile design standards and scalable design system.

Qualifications

What We're Looking For
  • 5+ years of experience in UX/UI or product design, with at least 5 years experience.
  • Portfolio demonstrating mobile app design work - ideally in enterprise, field ops, or rugged environments.
  • Proficiency with tools like Figma, Adobe CC, and prototyping platforms.
  • Strong foundation in visual design, interaction design, accessibility, and responsive layouts.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, especially with engineers and PMs.
  • Understanding of 508 compliance and designing for secure government environments.
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a Secret clearance. Active Secret or TS clearance preferred.

Bonus Points For:
  • Experience designing for Zebra or rugged Android handhelds.
  • Experience designing for ruggedized tablets.
  • Exposure to RFID, IoT, or asset-tracking applications.
  • Familiarity with Agile product development processes.
  • Prior work in the DoD, government contracting, or startup environments.
  • Experience conducting user research: interviews, persona creation, task flows, usability tests.
