Job Title: TRAVEL CNC Maintenance

Location: Lafayette, Indiana - must be willing to travel

$45hr and $150/day in per diem paid all 7 days

Position Overview

A leading manufacturer in Lafayette, IN is seeking experienced Automation Machine Tool Electricians to support CNC and PLC-controlled equipment in a high-volume industrial machine shop. This role is ideal for candidates with strong electrical troubleshooting skills and hands-on experience with complex automation systems. 2nd and 3rd shifts available, as well as weekend shifts for those seeking a non-traditional schedule.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and repair CNC, PLC, and relay logic-controlled machine tools
  • Service equipment including Okuma, G&L, Mazak, Lamb, Landis grinders, Waldrich Coburg, Ingersoll, Toyoda, and DMG Mori
  • Maintain and repair related shop equipment: cranes, conveyors, furnaces, washers, ABB robots
  • Work with controllers such as Fanuc, Siemens, Allen Bradley, Modicon, Indramat
  • Troubleshoot AC/DC analog and digital drives
  • Interpret machine tool schematics and feedback systems (Heidenhain, inductosyn, encoders)
  • Operate basic mechanical tools and perform hands-on repairs
  • Collaborate with team members to support production demands and meet deadlines
Qualifications

Required:

  • Minimum 3 years experience in electrical repair of machine tools and industrial equipment
  • Proficiency with CNC/PLC systems and relay logic troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with industrial controllers and drive systems
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and machine prints
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and tool operation
  • Willingness to work overtime and adapt to production needs
  • Must pass color blindness test and be able to work at heights and in confined spaces

Preferred:

  • Certified electrician
  • Associate Degree in Industrial Automation
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and perform repetitive hand movements
  • Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, and standing on concrete for 8+ hours
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, medium to heavy-duty environments
Shift Details
  • 2nd shift= 3:30-11:30pm Monday - Friday
  • 3rd shift = 11:30pm - 7:30am Monday - Friday

Weekend Shift Options:

  • Thursday Monday, 6:00 AM 4:00 PM
  • Thursday Monday, 6:00 PM 4:00 AM

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $45.00/hr.
