Job Title: Senior Technical Writer Maintenance Manuals
Location: Wichita, KS (Day 1 onsite at customer location)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Job Summary:
We are seeking a Senior Technical Writer to create and revise aircraft maintenance documentation. The ideal candidate will develop clear, accurate, and detailed technical manuals, working closely with engineering teams to ensure continued airworthiness instructions are effectively communicated to customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Author and revise maintenance documentation including:
- Maintenance Manuals (MM)
- Structural Repair Manuals (SRM)
- Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Manuals
- Tool & Equipment Manuals
- Component Maintenance Manuals (CMM)
- Utilize engineering databases, drawings, functional tests, and other technical resources to provide comprehensive maintenance instructions.
- Coordinate with illustrators to produce visuals for technical publications.
- Perform self and peer quality reviews of documentation for accuracy and consistency.
- Follow and enhance established documentation procedures.
- Collaborate with engineering teams and customer service representatives to validate maintenance procedures.
Qualifications:
- Degree in aviation-related field preferred, or equivalent experience in technical document authoring.
- A&P license or military aviation maintenance experience with Technical Orders is a plus.
- Strong understanding of engineering data; able to research and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Mechanical aptitude and knowledge of aircraft operation, systems, maintenance practices, manufacturing, and GAMA/ATA guidelines.
- Experience with SGML/XML, Arbortext, Adobe FrameMaker, or equivalent authoring tools.
- Professional demeanor with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
