Job Description:

As a Network Engineer supporting Department of Energy EITS program customers throughout the United States, you will be trusted to work as a Network Engineer Associate on the Network Operations 24X7 Team utilizing performance monitoring tools such as Smokeping, Nagios, Infoblox, ISE, Service Now, Splunk.

Job Description

GDIT is looking for a Network Engineer capable of performing the following tasks:
  • Monitoring LAN, MAN, WAN and responding to hardware, software, and network problems.
    • (e.g., Smokeping, Nagios, ISE, Splunk, Forescout, InfoBlox)

  • Interfacing with vendor support service groups to ensure proper escalation during outages or periods of degraded system performance.
  • Opening trouble tickets with the telco carriers and vendors through resolution.
    • (e.g., Verizon, Lumen, ATT, ESnet, Cisco)

  • Utilizing repository of records and reports concerning network operations and maintenance activities during your shift.
    • (e.g., Shift Change Over, Service Now tickets)

  • Analyzes network traffic and escalating any observed anomalies to Tier 3 Network Operations Engineers for action.

Required Skills:
  • Supporting non-standard shifts and non-standard work weeks;
    • 12 hour rotating shifts
    • (e.g., Every other Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday)

  • Primary place of duty will be located at the Department of Energy Germantown, Maryland Complex;
    • With some Telework authorized as needed by your Supervisor.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: BA/BS or equivalent, 2+ years of experience

The likely salary range for this position is $63,750 - $86,250. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
