Job Title: FTS ICTO Solutions Architect
JOB PURPOSE:
At the core, FTS believes in the value of partnering with our business units for their success by establishing close working relationships, and consulting to understand their needs and then proposing solutions that enable them to meet their objectives and strategic initiatives. Solutions Architecture requires practical skills and experience with many enterprise level infrastructure (operational) products, technologies, and services. While often relying on professionals with specialized skills for the construction, implementation, and operational aspects of solution delivery in many of these areas, the Solutions Architect must have enough skills and enterprise experience across them to be able to successfully architect appropriate enterprise solutions of heterogeneous components.
The Solutions Architect s (SA) work is primarily performed at the front end of the solution lifecycle. Full lifecycle experience in particular, the knowledge and appreciation of the construction, implementation, and management aspects of the solution lifecycle enables the Solutions Architect to produce solution designs that are truly viable and that can be successfully constructed, implemented, operated, and managed. The Solutions Architect must have a high level of communications, consulting, and client relationship skills. They must be able to clearly communicate complex technical and business concepts, both to clients (internal or external) and to team members, and to negotiate change. Problem-solving of client business and technical issues is a principal role of the Solutions Architect, and they must be capable of effectively identifying and framing problems, leading the collection of elements of information, and integrating this information to produce timely and thoughtful decisions.
JOB DUTIES INCLUDES PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES ONLY
- Perform comprehensive discovery analysis and definition of client requests and issues. They will document the implementation in the form of a technical ("blue-print") solution.
- Determine how products and services could be designed or modified to suit the Business Unit s needs. They also may advise on how best to use the products or services provided.
- Collaborate with the Business Units to create and present demonstrations of our solutions to prospective and existing clients. Part of an effective demonstration also includes being able to communicate at various levels to accommodate the audience and their specific interests in our solutions, whether it is from a technical or business aspect.
- Provide consultative technical support to business Units by demonstrating the value of standardized technology and solutions during the Project Intake Process. The SA will work closely with members of the BU team to ensure that FTS s solution offerings are being clearly mapped to customer and prospect business needs.
- Work collaboratively with the BRM and the Business Units to effectively manage relationships with new and existing customers.
- Set appropriate expectations during the Project Intake Process to ensure customer satisfaction
- Work to align BU needs to the FTS platform technologies and will need a keen understanding of how to identify and instill industry best practices(technology assessment)
- Should possess extensive knowledge of FTS platforms, including their components and processes.
- Act as a liaison between Business Units and Platform Engineering during design, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance phases, throughout the entire life cycle of the product.
- Combine exceptional communication skills, technical aptitude, and creative thinking to consult with prospective and existing clients to understand their business needs, map those needs to FTS solutions, and develop successful proposals that are relevant to clients requirements.
- Prepare proposals and presentations, respond to technical questions, and create statements of work.
- Analyze non-functional business requirements to ensure solution will accomplish customer's objectives and achieve their success criteria
- Work with business/functional/application team/clients to define, analyze, and document non-functional technical, security, and operational requirements.
- Complete current state analysis, requirements gathering, and documentation.
- Ensure the smooth transition of solution and discovery details to Engineering teams after project is initiated.
- Work with the other areas of the organization to analyze resources, infrastructure components, financial data and trends to incorporate into reusable tools for proposals, planning and capacity purposes
JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor s degree, or equivalent, in engineering, computer technology, and related disciplines.
- 8-10 years working experience in related field
ADDITIONAL SKILLS/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES REQUIRED
- Must be proficient at the techniques that go into the formulation of architectures, including requirements discovery and analysis, application of abstraction, formulation of solution context, solution alternatives identification and assessment, technology selection, and architectural configuration.
- Extensive understanding and experience in technology areas for Mainframe and Distributed platforms, Cloud, networking, databases, HA/DR, security, PCI compliance, and other IT regulations
- Extensive technology understanding and experience with hardware platforms such as, Dell PowerEdge, IBM z-Series Mainframe, IBM p-Series, IBM i-Series, HP Non-Stop, HP Proliant, Unisys, EMC SAN/NAS storage, Operating Systems, Windows, Linux, AIX, VMware, Solaris, HP-UX
- Databases, Oracle, IBM DB2, UDB, MSSQL Server, MySQL, and open sources DBs
- 3rdParty Applications and Tools; e.g. HP, IBM, EMC, NDM, Control-M, Microsoft Active Directory, IIS, WebLogic, webMethods, WebSphere, MQ Series, JBoss, Apache, Tomcat
- Enterprise level Architecture; WAN & LAN, Security, Firewall, Virtualization, Cloud (AWS, Azure), HA/DR
- Familiar with application architectures and standards
- Ability to work closely with client/application architects, senior leadership, and project managers to design and assist with the implementation of the solutions infrastructure related components.
- A hard-working, pro-active, consultative approach and the ability to listen and engage people.
- Demonstrate the ability to work independently and complete assigned project responsibilities under limited supervision.
- Ability to analyze and draw conclusions on data, tools and abstract concepts
- Ability to understand standard financial practices (Capitalization, Depreciation, etc.)
- Familiar with Clarity PPM, Azure DevOps or Jira
