Linux System & Network Administrator

We are seeking a seasoned Linux System/Network Administrator with robust, hands-on experience managing and securing mixed Linux and Windows environments. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of system security, infrastructure support, and IT service tools. Experience with Open Enterprise Server (OES) is a significant plus. This role requires someone with strong procedural documentation capabilities, a collaborative mindset, and technical expertise in network devices and IT platforms.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

System Administration

• Administer, secure, and maintain Linux servers (Ubuntu, SUSE) and Windows environments (Windows Server & Windows 11).
• Perform routine system patching, upgrades, and vulnerability remediation.
• Ensure system performance, availability, and disaster recovery readiness.
• Create and maintain comprehensive procedural documentation for configurations, standard operating procedures, and change control.

Open Enterprise Server (OES) Support

• Support, maintain, and optimize Open Enterprise Server (OES) environments, ensuring integration with Linux and Windows infrastructure (preferred).

Network Administration

• Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot SonicWALL firewalls and Cisco switches.
• Support VPNs, VLANs, ACLs, routing, and overall network security measures.
• Maintain network performance through diagnostics and proactive issue resolution.

Atlassian Suite Administration

• Administer and support Jira Service Management, Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket.
• Manage user roles, permissions, workflows, project configurations, and integrations with other systems.
• Collaborate with internal teams to improve ticketing workflows, knowledge base content, and DevOps pipelines.

IT Operations & Support

• Provide Tier 2/3 support for system and network incidents.
• Participate in audits, risk assessments, and policy development for system/network security.
• Collaborate with development, DevOps, and IT support teams to maintain service-level standards.
• Monitor logs, events, and alerts to maintain system integrity and performance.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 7-10 years of experience as a System/Network Administrator in mixed OS environments.
• Must have proficiency with Ubuntu and SUSE Linux, Windows Server, and Windows 11.
• Strong grasp of IT security principles, patch management, and endpoint/server hardening.
• Strong understanding of CIS Benchmarking to help organizations secure their systems, applications, and network infrastructure against cyber threats
• Experience working with vulnerability scanning tools like Nessus
• Deep understanding of SonicWALL firewalls and Cisco network switches.
• Advanced experience with the Atlassian tool suite, particularly Jira Service Management and Confluence.
• Strong documentation and procedural workflow skills with the ability to create clear, reusable, and maintainable IT procedures
• Experience with Open Enterprise Server (OES) is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with SOC 2 compliance frameworks and controls is highly desirable
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills.

PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS:

• CompTIA Security+ / Network+
• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
• Microsoft Certified: Windows Server
• Atlassian Certified Administrator
• Linux Professional Institute Certification (LPIC) or Linux+

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• May be tasked with lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling up to 25 lbs., if able to do so.
• Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time and walk/stand for moderate periods of time.
• Must be able to bend at the knees and waist frequently
• Must be able to repetitively use a telephone and a computer mouse and keyboard.
