SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA)

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking an SQL Server Database Administrator in Tampa, FL.

Summary:
The SQL Server DBA will be responsible for the design and delivery of database technology to solve business needs. The candidate will also maintain effective internal control of the database involving implementation, tuning, throughput, optimization, security and integrity of the environment.

REQUIREMENTS:
* Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate (preferred)
* Experience level: 7 - 10 years
* 7+ years of experience in MS SQL Azure environments, including Azure SQL PaaS
* Extensive knowledge and experience in development and/or application-based troubleshooting in SQL server
* Demonstrated experience in application support with industry knowledge of ITIL service management principles
* Extensive technical understanding that spans multiple platforms and application level expertise of a portfolio of applications with broad knowledge of the business strategic priorities, in order to resolve complex problems
* Required knowledge of PowerShell scripting
* Familiarity with third-party DBA tools such as Toad, pgAdmin, DBeaver, dbForge, and Visual Studio
* Additional Info: "The SQL workload has transitioned to Azure PaaS so it is critical the resource has hands-on experience supporting DBs in Azure
* Strong background in SQL development, including writing and troubleshooting stored procedures, functions, tables, views, triggers, indexes, and constraints.
* Expertise in analyzing SQL execution plans to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks
* Hands-on experience with Performance Monitor, Extended Events, and other monitoring/troubleshooting tools
* Skilled in query optimization, blocking and deadlock resolution, and diagnosing performance issues in critical scenarios
* Proficient in troubleshooting database integrity, replication, log shipping, connectivity, and security issues
* Strong understanding of Azure backup and restore processes (local and remote Azure SQL servers)
* Familiarity with Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) in backup/restore operations and implementation
* PostgreSQL experience a plus

Knowledge of:
* Entra ID authentication
* Azure SQL Server network security
* Azure networking principles
* Expert-level experience in operational automation for database administration

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
