Position Description:
The Senior Project Manager will lead and oversee complex, highvisibility Public Safety technology initiatives. This role requires strong leadership to manage all aspects of project delivery, including planning, execution, monitoring, and closeout, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within scope, and on budget. The Senior Project Manager will coordinate with stakeholders across departments, maintain clear communication channels, and apply best practices from both Waterfall and Agile methodologies to optimize efficiency and performance.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Oversee the full lifecycle of assigned Public Safety projects, from initiation through closure.
- Perform daytoday project management tasks: define scope, develop schedules, track milestones, and maintain budgets.
- Identify potential issues and risks; recommend and implement mitigation strategies to keep projects on track.
- Ensure deliverables align with stakeholder requirements, quality standards, and organizational objectives.
- Develop and maintain critical path schedules, identify dependencies, and track testing and acceptance criteria.
- Continuously evaluate project processes and recommend improvements to drive cost savings and performance enhancements.
- Monitor project status, consolidate progress reports, and communicate updates to stakeholders and executive leadership.
- Produce clear, concise meeting agendas, handouts, and status presentations for project team meetings and executive briefings.
- Collaborate with crossfunctional teams, including technical staff, vendors, and endusers, to ensure smooth project execution.
- Facilitate stakeholder workshops and decisionmaking sessions to align requirements and resolve conflicts.
Required Skills:
- Demonstrated ability to manage large, highprofile, and sensitive projects (minimum of seven years of experience).
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent PMIissued credential (e.g., PMIACP, PgMP, PfMP).
- Proven expertise in both Waterfall and Agile methodologies for business process, software, and hardware implementations/upgrades.
- Comprehensive knowledge of PMI standards and the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), with documented experience creating and maintaining project artifacts (e.g., Charters, Plans, Schedules, Risk Logs).
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Project (or Project Server), Excel, and Word for developing schedules, budgets, and project documentation.
- Experience preparing and delivering executivelevel presentations and written reports.
- Exceptional organizational, coordination, and timemanagement skills.
- Strong analytical and problemsolving abilities, with a focus on risk identification and mitigation.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills, capable of tailoring messages to technical teams and senior leadership alike.
- Ability to work onsite five days per week, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and adapt to shifting priorities as project demands evolve.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor s Degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field; equivalent professional experience will be considered.
- Minimum seven (7) years of progressive project management experience overseeing largescale, missioncritical technology initiatives.
- Active PMI certification (PMP, PMIACP, PgMP, or PfMP) at the time of application and throughout employment.
- Documented history of managing business process implementations, software deployments, and/or hardware upgrades in a complex environment.
- Experience developing and managing comprehensive project documentation per PMI and SDLC best practices.
- Prior background in preparing executive briefings, status reports, and facilitating stakeholder workshops.
- Handson experience managing projects using Microsoft Project Server and SharePoint for collaboration and schedule management.
- Previous project management experience within a government (federal, state, or local) or public safety context.
- Ability to successfully complete a comprehensive background check.
- Familiarity with the development, management, communication, and support of Public Safety systems and applications.
