What you'll do

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work closely with a driven, collaborative team of Mechanical Engineers. You will be responsible for designing, upgrading, and maintaining precision positioning systems (motors, gearboxes, gearing, encoders) and electromechanical RF structures (reflectors, feeds, and flat panel arrays) with an emphasis on reliability and customer satisfaction. You will be responsible for multiple projects and tasks at any given time supporting a mix of military and commercial hardware. You will be empowered to lead mechanical projects with a communicative, rigorous, and proactive approach to problem-solving.

The day-to-day

Your drive to provide comprehensive system solutions will be supported by a motivated team of Mechanical Engineers, RF and Digital Engineers, Systems Engineers, and Operations support functions to develop antenna systems for a wide range of technical and environmental applications.

Tasks will include conceptual design, trade studies, detailed design and drawings, tolerance analysis, risk analysis, thermal analysis, structural analysis, integration support, environmental test preparation and execution, and field support.

What you'll need

  • 8+ years of experience in precision positioner design, electromechanical RF design, or similar work.
  • Experience with CAD tools such as SolidWorks.
  • Knowledge of proper application of GD&T in design and manufacturing.
  • Experience with design for manufacturability for the following processes: casting, weldment, sheet metal, and precision machining.
  • Ability to create and review thermal, structural, and tolerance analyses.
  • Knowledge of finite element modeling techniques and software.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar engineering field.
  • US Government position. ship required.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.

What will help you on the job

  • Masters of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience with the following CAD tools: SolidWorks, Solid Edge, and Creo.
  • Experience with the following analysis tools: ANSYS, NASTRAN, and Thermal Desktop.
  • Experience with Ground Station Antenna Systems.
  • Experience with Phased Array Antenna structural and thermal solutions.
  • Experience with design at low to medium levels of production.
  • Knowledge and application of government and military standards.

Salary range

$108,000.00 - $171,000.00 / annually.For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $134,000.00- $201,000.00/ annually
