Job Description

Location: ONSITE 5 days/week in Los Angeles, CA supporting the LA Unified School District.

Duration: 9 months - this project runs through June 2026 with potential extension

Overview:

The Network Engineer I provides IT infrastructure engineering for network and infrastructure upgrades, changes, troubleshooting, relocation and migrations specializing in advanced Cisco and other vendors solutions.

Responsibilities:

Assists or leads network upgrade activities at customer sites.

Applies software updates and configurations on Cisco routers or switches.

Performs quality assurance tests and migration day-1 support for network infrastructure.

Troubleshoots issues with wired and wireless network infrastructures.

Participates in site surveys, creates documentation and reporting as needed.

Qualifications:

Active Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification is required

Must have hands-on experience with network infrastructure LAN/WAN, Switching, Routing, Wireless, and Enterprise Networking Infrastructures

A Valid Driver's License and a reliable vehicle. Driving is a requirement.

Background check required. Customer may require secondary background check. Work will be performed at customer sites. Employment is contingent on passing all required checks.

Strong customer-facing and communication skills.

Ability to lift equipment up to 40 pounds.

Ability to work safely on ladders up to 8

Nice to Have Qualifications:

Experience with Cisco Routers (ISR & Catalyst Models), Switches (Catalyst 9K Models), Cisco IOS / IOS-XE and other technical configurations.

Advanced Knowledge of network protocols: TCP/IP, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, DHCP, DNS, STP, VTP, and / or DTP.

Advanced skill in designing, implementing, and troubleshooting Layer 2 and Layer 3 networks, including VLANs, 802.1q trunking, inter-VLAN routing, and associated protocols.

Experience with monitoring, alerting and management tools, such as ScienceLogic, Labtech, or SolarWinds.

Experience with Cisco IP telephony and wireless systems. Specifically, how to configure networks to support these technologies.

Addition Hardware Experience: Cisco legacy fixed and modular Catalyst switches, Cisco firewalls, Palo Alto Firewalls, Alcatel switches, HP switches, network printers (any vendor), or others.
