Title: Onsite Contract: eDiscovery Cyber Security Onsite Consultant (Digital Forensics, Cybersecurity Investigations, EDRM )
Duration: 6-12 months
100% onsite in Waukesha, WI

The eDiscovery (Cybersecurity) Specialist will be responsible for supporting legal, compliance, and cybersecurity teams with data collection, preservation, and analysis efforts in response to legal holds, investigations, regulatory inquiries, and potential data breaches.
This role requires deep knowledge of digital forensics, data lifecycle management, and secure handling of sensitive information in a regulated enterprise environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Legal & Regulatory Support
- Coordinate and execute data preservation and collection activities in response to litigation holds, internal investigations, and regulatory requests.
- Work with Legal, HR, Compliance, and IT to ensure collections are thorough, defensible, and properly documented.
- Assist in responding to regulatory audits (e.g., FDA, HIPAA, GDPR, etc.) requiring structured data reporting or access logs.
Cybersecurity Investigations
- Support incident response and breach investigations by identifying and preserving relevant data artifacts (emails, file shares, endpoint logs, etc.).
- Collaborate with SOC, IR, and threat intel teams to scope data relevant to cyber investigations or insider threats.
- Data Collection & Processing
- Use eDiscovery platforms and forensic tools (e.g., EnCase, FTK, Relativity, Nuix, X1, Microsoft Purview) to perform data ingestion, indexing, filtering, and culling.
- Collect structured and unstructured data across endpoints, servers, cloud platforms (O365, SharePoint, OneDrive), and email archives.
- Chain of Custody & Documentation
- Maintain defensible chain-of-custody documentation and ensure collection methods meet legal and evidentiary standards.
- Generate reports, timelines, and summaries for internal stakeholders or legal teams.
- Cross-Functional Coordination
- Act as a liaison between cybersecurity, legal, and compliance teams to ensure secure and timely access to requested data.
- Coordinate with IT and InfoSec for access to systems, logs, and backup archives as needed for discovery or investigation purposes.
Required Experience & Skills
- 3 5+ years experience in eDiscovery, digital forensics, or cybersecurity investigations.
- Working knowledge of legal hold, data preservation, and eDiscovery processes (EDRM lifecycle).
- Hands-on experience with eDiscovery tools (e.g., Relativity, Nuix, EnCase, X1 Social Discovery, Microsoft Purview).
- Familiarity with common enterprise systems: Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Windows endpoints, Exchange, and Active Directory.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity and information governance principles.
- Excellent documentation and communication skills; ability to interact with legal counsel, HR, and technical teams.
- Experience in regulated industries, especially medical device or healthcare, preferred.
Compliance & Security Considerations
- Understanding of HIPAA, GDPR, and FDA 21 CFR Part 11 or other relevant regulatory frameworks.
- Ensures data is handled securely, maintaining confidentiality, integrity, and availability throughout discovery lifecycle.
- Knowledge of secure transfer protocols, encryption, and access controls in the context of sensitive data handling.
Preferred Certifications (Not Required)
- Certified E-Discovery Specialist (CEDS)
- GIAC Cyber Threat Intelligence (GCTI)
- Certified Cyber Forensics Professional (CCFP)
- EnCE, ACE, or related forensic tool certifications
