Overview:
Vaco is seeking a talented PowerBuilder Software Engineer to support and enhance a core business application in the Healthcare industry. This role requires expertise in PowerBuilder development, along with enterprise-level .NET development and integrations experience. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving existing applications while contributing to modernization efforts. This position will be required to work onsite 4-days per week in Addison, TX and candidates must be local to the Dallas/Fort Worth market, as our client is unable to cover relocation expenses at this time. Candidates must also be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screen and must be legally eligible to work in the United States, as our client is unable to sponsor at this time.
Job Scope:
- Develop, maintain, and enhance a PowerBuilder-based core business application.
- Support and troubleshoot existing PowerBuilder and .NET components.
- Assist in the design and development of new enterprise-level .NET integrations and solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure software meets business needs.
- Participate in code reviews, ensuring adherence to best practices and high-quality standards.
- Work with a Sybase back-end, with plans for future migration to SQL Server.
- Support potential cloud migration efforts, leveraging Azure where applicable.
- Ensure clear and effective communication with team members and stakeholders.
Must Have Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience in PowerBuilder development.
- 2+ years of experience with .NET (C#) and Microsoft technologies at an enterprise level.
- Strong database experience, particularly with Sybase and SQL Server.
- Familiarity with modern software development methodologies and best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in the Healthcare industry is a plus.
- Prior experience working within AWS or Azure Cloud Services a plus
