Title : Mechanical Engineer

Job Summary

The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing mechanical solutions for a material handling system to integrate into a large volume distribution network. The role is within a cross-discipline technical project, collaborating with other engineers, designers, and the production team to ensure efficiency, functionality, and quality of systems and products. This role plays a crucial part in creating innovative solutions that meet the technical and safety requirements of the project.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks

Development of mechanical systems design: Create and compile existing designs of parts and mechanical systems using CAD software (SolidWorks).

Design Analysis: Create and optimize scoring mechanisms to evaluate system and component designs, guiding the development with a data driven approach.

Trade-off Analysis: Conduct tradeoff analyses to guide decision making, using cost as a common variable to align cross functional teams.

Collaboration with other teams: Work closely with engineers from other disciplines (electrical, electronics, production, etc.) to ensure effective integration of systems.

Prototyping: Oversee the fabrication of prototypes and their validation through functional testing.

Technical documentation management: Create and maintain detailed documentation for designs, tests, and processes.

Process optimization: Identify areas for improvement in manufacturing processes and propose solutions to optimize production.

Technical Requirements

Design software: Proficiency in CAD tools like SolidWorks including the creation of 2D drawing packs as per GD&T guidelines.

Manufacturing processes: Familiarity with manufacturing processes (welding, machining, casting, Plastic injection molding etc.).

Standards and regulations: Knowledge of industrial standards (ISO, ASME, DIN) and safety regulations.

Knowledge of ergonomics and human factors engineering to design systems that optimize comfort & safety.

Experience Requirements

Previous experience: At least 3 years of experience as a mechanical engineer working on design and development projects.

Similar projects: Previous experience in developing high volume industrial equipment, or transportation systems is highly desirable.

Interdisciplinary teamwork: Experience working within a multidisciplinary team of both technical and non-technical stakeholders etc.

Qualifications and Education

Degree: Bachelor s degree in mechanical engineering or related fields.
