Who we're looking for:

The Toyota Financial Services Enterprise Tools team is seeking a passionate and highly motivated Principal Software Engineer - Developer Platform to lead the development of cutting-edge software systems and frameworks that empower our growing enterprise developer community. In this individual contributor role, you will drive innovation by building reusable, scalable platforms and mentor a talented team of engineers. Reporting to the technology leadership, you will play a key role in advancing our developer platform to deliver best-in-class solutions that enhance how our teams build and deploy software.

What you'll be doing:

Imagine a typical day where you're hands-on crafting large-scale, cloud-native software frameworks that enable seamless developer experiences across the enterprise. Success means delivering robust, reusable components that accelerate innovation and mentoring engineers to grow their skills and impact.

• Lead the design and development of modern, scalable software systems using cloud-native principles and infrastructure as code.
• Build reusable frameworks and libraries that simplify complex distributed systems and microservices architectures.
• Mentor and coach engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and technical excellence.
• Collaborate with business and technology leaders to shape strategic roadmaps and translate requirements into impactful technology solutions.
• Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously innovate and improve our developer platform offerings.
• Provide operational support including root cause analysis and preventive measures to ensure system reliability.
• Create and maintain clear architectural documentation to support knowledge sharing and system integrity.

What you bring:

• 10+ years of hands-on experience designing and delivering highly scalable, cloud-native applications using Java, Spring Boot, Python, NodeJS, REST APIs, and microservices architecture.
• Deep expertise in software engineering best practices, including automated testing, software design patterns, and infrastructure as code (Terraform, OpenTofu, AWS CDK, or CloudFormation).
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively with architects, product owners, and delivery teams to solve complex business problems.
• Strong background in AWS cloud services such as ECS, Docker, ALB, S3, DynamoDB, RDS, Lambda, and application security.
• Experience leading the creation and evangelism of reusable software patterns and frameworks that promote architectural consistency and quality.

Added bonus if you have:

• Experience with front-end frameworks like ReactJS, AngularJS, or Vue.js.
• Advanced degrees or certifications that deepen your expertise in cloud-native development or software architecture.
